GOT SUM's RB34

Recommended Posts

Got some decent progress after work yesterday and also today. Got the ECU all wired and passenger side interior all back together. Kept the wiring up nice and high to avoid people standing on it. Got the surge tank relays rewired and tidied up the pump wiring and cut a hole to bring the cables through.

I found a spare USB cable I had lying around so I decided to cut it up and see if I could use it for my CAN 1 bus. Turned out one of the pins I needed was to the shield of the cable so i cut it up and desoldered it and resoldered to the correct pins.

Had the issue with the powersteering hose hitting the A/C compressor and fan shroud. I pulled the bracket off and modified it to remove the front mounting point which now clears it all. Will keep an eye on it to see if theres any signs of fouling once it's up and running.

did you end up wiring in a PWM signal to power steering to remove HICAS?

Thanks mate!

Nah I haven't. That'll be a job for ron once she's running.

Not much has happened lately being so busy at work. I picked up some liquid nails to seal/secure the shifter dropbox I made up. Test fitted it and I had to move someof the holes slightly to line up. Modified the holes and decided to take the sharp corners off it as well and round them down.

Next on the list was powersteering res relocation. I modified the powersteering bracket that my made 3D printed and managed to get it to pickup a couple of stock bolt holes. Pretty tight fitment, hopefully the hoses have enough flex to not kink on the sharp bend.

Have been playing around on the Link setting bits and pieces up. Got the DBW all setup and turned on and the Link and TCU talking to eachother. Still need to play around with Can a bit more as I only had data showing up on the TCU so far.

Been getting some good progress on the car over the last week. Everything is now plumbed and wired. We have ECU to TCU comms working. I just need to send through some values from ECU to the dash so I can have a few things showing up there.

Fluids are in now and so far so good. Had a couple of small leaks from some hardline fittings but they've been rectified. I found a small leak and tracked it down to fuel slowly weeping from the fuel pressure sensor connector. Will get a new one ordered next week and we should be good to go.
