How Do I Know If I Have A Neo Engine

Hi Guys,

I have a 98 R33 GTST 40th Anniversary addition. The rocker cover gasket is leaking oil and I would like to know if its a neo engine or not so I can get the right gaskets. Any help will be appreciated.

Won't be a NEO unless it's been swapped, should have the plastic CAS but still purple side feed injectors etc

pretty sure neo gaskets are different. op just take a photo of you engine and someone will tell you if its neo or not

They'll do, gaskets are the same, only difference is you have to buy the grommets that go around the screws for the 33 25 if you need them

Correct. All RB20/25/26 all use same valve cover gaskets.

Ok so judging from what everyone is saying the normal gaskets should be fine but here are the photos

Here is the engine bay photos. Anyone know which site I can get the grommets from??

Is late series 2, most places that have the gaskets should have the grommets, otherwise the local dealer will probably have them, or replace the screws with bolts same as the neo setup

Brackets for the coilpacks = not Neo

Black plastic CAS = Neo

That makes it a late model series 2 RB25DET.

Haha, so is it a neo or not? Either way I SHOULD still be able to use the same gaskets for the RB25 engine right?

Yes it uses some Neo components but no it is not a Neo.
