Brake Calliper Paint

Recommended Posts

So I got new rims and the guy said they would paint my brake callipers so I thought he would paint it red cause that's the colour people normally paint it. It got painted black which is nice but I think it'll look better in red, so how do I go about painting it? Should I just spray over it or what do I do to get the black off first? Thanks [emoji16]

Do not just paint over it!

If you're going to do it, do it properly. Jack up your car, take off your wheels and mask everything besides the calipers up (the quicker way as you're really ought to take the calipers off to paint them individually if you're willing to do it the absolute right way)...then you sand back the black paint, add 1-2 layers of primer paint and then paint over that with whatever paint colour you want but make sure it is heat resistant paint. That's it.

Painting over the current layer will probably make the paint thick and once the red flakes off over time you will see the black under coat.

Up to you how you do it though.
