So I recently purchased a 92 R32 GTR and had it shipped to me. I was told it was mostly stock besides intake/exhaust. After getting the car I found that's not the case. So onto the problem, when the car makes boost it hold good up to 1 bar but after it goes over that it will cut out. the once or twice iv messed with it the make sure it wasn't a fluke the highest reading I saw was over 1.5 bar. I'm not sure if its cutting out because the fuel cannot keep up with the added requirement or if the boost is cutting out. I has the stock boost solenoid removed and both those lines cap'd off. So am i right to think it should be running off the turbo actuator pressure? When I rcvd the car it was also bone dry on fuel and i had to drive it on E to the local gas station. Maybe a clogged fuel filter?(already ordered a new one) any direction to look before I start ripping the engine apart would be great.

Side notes:

-The actuators look like they have been upgraded to HKS ones but the compressor housing still says garret

-I do know its not safe to run that much boost on stock turbos if they are stock.

Known mods:

HKS Actuators

HKS cam slider gears

Apex intake

Tomei Cat back

Some dumb hyper ground system

Stock boost solenoid delete(not sure about this)

Greddy boost gauge

step one - stop smashing that level of boost.

your gonna lean it out and kill it fast.

fuel blockage will not cause high boost, plumb the lines back into the actuators/ boost solenoid properly, if you don't know whats going on put it back to stock and get it right. it might just be bleeding to nowhere and free boosting

I'm not retarded I only did it twice. first time testing the car and 2nd time making sure it wasn't a fluke.

I'v already started ripping it apart to go as stock as i can but it did not come with the stock boost solenoid so I'm just replacing vacuum lines and making sure they are properly clamped. Also I plan to test the turbo actuators while i have it apart.

Well Figured everything out. The over boost issue was improperly routed vacuum lines and after I correct them she started running on waste gate pressure. I have since installed a electronic boost controller also. The cutting out at high Rpm's was the combo of Coil packs and installing a smaller gaped spark plug. Thanks for the advice.

    • Nah no bearings, just slip fit.  Would be a reasonably challenging but not impossible job to modify it to run bearings but I'm hoping that's not necessary as I may have well built one myself if I end up spending hours modifying it!
    • Brumbys with good shells are bloody expensive, I've looked at 2 "cheaper" cars, and walked away from both,  plus after some research spare parts are fairly sparce I'm starting to think that I missed the boat on finding a clean one that is straight (ish) and without alot rust I'm starting to think about a old Hilux as panels and other parts are much more available as they sold tens of thousands of them I use to be indecisive but now I'm not sure
    • A Brumby would probably fit a big metal toolbox in the back... this is how it begins
    • Picked up a new OEM boot seal for the MX5 today as the old one got ripped a bit by me being a idiot by seeing if I could fit a large metal tool box in it, it didn't fit, and ripped the seal with the corner of the tool box I am still waiting on time to get the cams and new balancer installed, as well as the repairs to the boot Time will not be an issue soon though
