Hello I was looking at replacing my OEM Battery with a lithium battery or a good battery that fits well in the existing battery carrier with out doing any changes to terminal or leads any ideas guys or has any one done the lithium thing ?? cheers

ok so your OEM should be Height 168mm, Width 130 mm and Length 186mm. now i dont know what CCA that has but if you want Lithium you get alot more cca fom same size gel or old skool lead acid.

ive done a search and people have used:

optima D51R 236.5 x 128.6 x 227 mm 450cca 11.8kg

Supercharge GOLD MF55B24R 236X 128 X 220 terminal height 490cca 12.1kg

now i dont know if these need mods

i know the yellow top is laying down as its a GEL AMG battery and can do that

but most lithium battery available in Australia is used for motorbikes that bolt the terminal

i found some in Europe that have the round plug style, but cant find em in aust

best is to change your terminals to a bolt on style then get lithium

Pros

long lasting 10yrs

light 1/3 of weight

no acid / liquid/ fumes

more cycle rates (3000 more recharge flat to 100% cycles not starts)

fast recharge flat to full in an hour

zero maintenance

Cons

cost

cutting OEM terminals

doing the mod

only 1 brand in aust others are deep cycle you dont want that....unless u want a wayco fridge in ya boot n power that up

now i would recommend only from the oem size that i found above please check if yours is same ?? size ?: these 3 should be a nice fit

and for your terminal conversion this simple cable lug and a bolt:

probly get ya work done by a auto sparky like deering and tell them your needs e.g. " want a lithium motorbike battery in car same length and height with lug and bolt terminals"

Here's a tip for you from my days of research looking for a replacement battery for my 33 GTR.

If you have a 33 or 34 GTR - and want a excellent battery without changing anything at a awesome price -->

Platinum NS40Z CMF -

Size / dimension same as standard Pit Stop Nissan GTR battery - fits in standard position in standard battery tray behind rear parcel shelf perfectly.

Has smaller terminals - so no need to modify anything - and has a 420 CCA - which is higher than any of the other Maintenance free calcium batteries (highest I found was the Century at 390 CCA).

The kicker - $100 from Power Crank Batteries at 340 Orrong road. They are awesome (also sell the Optima and others).

For a $100 - cant go wrong and wont find better.

Got mine 2 weeks ago - went into the back warehouse - spoke to the guy - he was a top bloke - said shops are ripping people - $100. Tell him your from SAUWA.

Hope it helps a few of you.

You don't need huge CCA.

Mine runs 3 fuel pumps and all accessories and makes over 800HP and its no problem.

Your huge CCA is all bullshit on a RB26.(unless you have a huge wanky stereo etc ;)
