Rb25 Turbo Noise

Hi all

Just bought a r33 s2 gtst and has a terrible noise coming from the turbo side of the motor. Sounds like a moaning/whine noise like a power steering pump sounds like when its about to die. No grinding noise like you hear when a bearing dies. Noise happens under any load not just when making boost. Does go away for a bit then comes back. Any idea where to start looking? Only mod on it is a pod filter.

I would start looking closest to the area that you hear the noise, and has a moving part, and troubleshoot from there.

Eg, u think its p/s pump? Pull drivebelt off and run car. Still making noise? Then its not ps pump. Etc

Its not a pump. Has the same noise but its def coming from turbo area. Does a leaking gasket make that type of noise?

Compressor or turbine wheel rubbing housing. Best I can do guessing on the internetz without any video or audio.

Could be blown manifold or turbo to manifold gasket. Makes a f**ked noise like letting air out of a balloon!

Sounds fine to me. Try a new turbo and see if it changes.

6 seconds and sitting in the drivers seat............no boom box stereo on or a jet flying overhead??? c'mon

Honestly get the bonnet open, record 60 seconds, and rev it from the engine bay [not the drivers seat].
