Hi guys,

This forum has been great for a newbie like myself getting into Skylines and beginning to get hands on, however I'm out of my depth on this one. Can someone please take a look at the video below and help me diagnose the noise?

Car has had a slight oil leak on the rocker gasket cover, due to be replaced this weekend. Timing belt was done less than 4 months ago.

Thoughts? Any help is appreciated.

A bad exhaust leak from downpipe gasket or exhaust manifold etc

or broken ring lands? Try a compression test.

Or use a long screwdriver or similar and stick one end in your ear and the other on the block, head, cambelt cover etc to try to locate the source of the sound.

I wouldn't use a helicoil there........go time sert every time!!!!

The trouble is if you get a slight soot/carbon buildup on the spark plug thread when you take it out [regular service etc] it can grab the helicoil and bring it out as well. I've never had an issue with time serts.
