Cluster Broke And New Cluster Fitted

Recommended Posts

Hi SAU,

My cluster in my skyline has stopped working (The rev meter section is broken along with the speedo section was playing up) and i bought a second hand odometer the next day so i know my speed limit and the rev meter.

My question is, The old cluster had a different KMS to the second hand cluster now.

I will be selling the car also soon and i dont want to do the wrong thing with RMS and wanted to know if we require to report this cluster issue to them for their records? the E -Safety was recorded with the original kms on it and the rego is coming up soon and the mechanic workshop said to me that RMS does not check these...which is BS!

Has anyone else had the same issue with their clusters playing up and purchasing a second hand cluster with a different km's?

Just wana do the right thing here guys.

Thanks

Jason

Slim chance the original was legit anyway?

There are people who can adjust your new cluster, I can't say I've had it done before but it can be done, I'm almost sure there's a thread on either this forum or another.

All in all, if you want to go the legit way, tell the RMS and ask for their advice :)

The old clusters was original for the car with full service history with the kms on it always.

I will go over to RMS at my lunch break and ask them for a quick advice :)

Legit way will always make you richer if you follow the book and karma will get you ;)

Any good instrumentation shop can set your new cluster to the old ones readings. When I got my nismo cluster I send it off and had it reset to my standard mileage. All they wanted was a declaration signed by me that it was what it was. They didn't want pics or anything though [i dealt through the mail, not over the counter].

yeah I got mine checked out at the same time, it was s/h so I didn't want any smoke escaping when I plugged it in, plus the best time to fix it is when its out - so if the temp/speedo/fuel etc didn't work they could fix it before I went to the hassle of tearing half the dash apart.
