Hello all,

Have just joined as I'm looking to tap into the vast knowledge here, starting with my spoiler. This is my first Skyline and therefore I'm trying to get my own information up to speed.

Quick details on my car are here: http://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/465234-new-from-the-uk/

I've searched here and online and found the following two thread but neither really fledges out the details and also how to fix it. Mine is working for the most part, however it doesn't work automatically. It will just permanently come up as soon as the handbrake is released, and will refuse to stay down when the down button is pressed, I think this is because the down button won't "click" into place.

Here are the button & it in the up and down positions:

I've taken the button out (when I was attempting to fix the odo) and it's defo part of the original car;

and here's the English manual blurb on it

Would anyone be able to tell me if there is a place which gives more details on it so I can return it to full working order?

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for it, I couldn't find one in the workshop manual I have got hold of.

Thanks

Tommo

Haven't seen an R33 one, but the R32 and R31 came with them as well. I have no knowledge of the R32 and R33 ones, but the R31 ones automatically folded up below a certain speed (came down after 70 km/h IIRC). You had to by-pass this (manual override) to make the autospoiler stay down.

A quick search: http://homepages.vodafone.co.nz/~lakewood/Skyline/Spoiler.htm

I think the part number for the switch is this: 2512015U00

Wow thank you for that, reply is just perfect. I'd searched for so many different names for it and had missed "Active front spoiler"! I have a feeling my switch could be part of the issue with mine as like the guy in the link say his "down" button wasn't latching. With the car stopped and the handbrake on the spoiler will move as intended so I don't think there is anything wrong with the actual function of the spoiler. Will ask my importers parts desk to see if they can get hold of one! :)

Also that R31 promo video is just the best thing ever!

    • yeah I've never understood that either.... And to answer an earlier question, I write the date on open bottles and throw them if more than 12 months old (which they almost always are, because I don't need to bleed them unless I'm changing lines/calipers etc in between)
    • Nah, the one that hit the boot was a big steel locker, around 6 foot height, 4 foot wide and 2 foot deep, empty it weighs about 15kg and had about that amount of stuff in it The photo didn't give a good representation of the actual damage, the large ding on the passenger side was about a inch deep, the one on the driver was about 1/2 inch deep, right on the curve, where the inner boot frame doesn't let you get behind it with a dolly Basically the same issue with getting behind the damage on the centre of the boot We could have filled it all with bog, but my OCD would be triggered every time I looked at it, knowing what hides beneath  As for the locker, I did get the shits with it and put it in the scap metal bin, but, I pulled it out and it is now sitting in the garage at home full of car servicing stuff, cleaning gear and random tools, it's going to pay for it's indiscretions
    • Whilst I typically don't cheap out on things, if I can save some money, like $1000, on a clean straight panel, that gives me $1000 to spend on other stuff, basically free money really 🤔 🤣
    • Is the toolbox that damaged the boot seal the same item that fell on the car during the storm a while back?
    • Who are you to deny yourself? I’ve said this many times to myself and apart from getting what I really want, I go quiet for a while whilst working out what I just did to my savings and how will I afford what it cost, then, next payday…
