Starting Issue (Fuel Pump?)

Hi, I've owned an r32 gts-t with rb25det for a few years now and around once a month it will start for a second then die and refuse to start, it turns over fine but won't start, it usually takes 10-30mins of trying on and off before it actually starts and this only seems to happen if I've already been driving within the last hour. When it does start there's a high pitch whine which I've been told could be the fuel pump.

So before I run out and grab a new pump can anyone add any possible suggestions to what the problem is?

If its the stock one you are due for a new pump. If you have the gear stick a fuel pressure gauge on and see what comes out of the old pump.
