After reading a few threads and seeing the only real options we "had" for a broken front cv joint was a second hand replacement or a rebuild and I wasn't happy with that so i did some digging.

What i stumbled across was this image in the NM35 Stagea service manual.

axles_zpsqkoscdlz.jpg

With part numbers for the whole units Z80T70C ( Left side ) Z80T82F ( Right side )

so went back on google and typed in the numbers and i got a couple of hits

below is an image from a 2006 G35 sedan service manual

axles%202_zpsflaeulth.jpg

and the same numbers pop up Z80T70C and Z80T82F

here are some other links  / vehicles with same part number

R32 skyline   http://nissan-skyline-r32.com/chassis/drive-shaft/168-drive-shaft-assembly-and-disassembly

and an ebay link to some New infiniti G35 axels http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-New-CV-Axles-Front-Left-Right-OE-Repl-With-Warranty-Fit-Infiniti-G25-G35-G37-/131641729761?fits=Make%3AInfiniti|Model%3AG35&hash=item1ea67562e1%3Ag%3AG9cAAOSwYHxWNNcI&vxp=mtr

please point out if i am missing something blatantly obvious

Nissan (annoyingly) have both a part code, usually 5 digits although those pics show a 7 digit number, and a part number which is in the format xxxxx-xxxxx like Stripey posted.

The part number is what you need to match or order an exact part, the part number is generally the same or similar across all models and you need something like NIssan FAST, together with your specific VIN# to turn it into a part code.

Frustratingly I am not aware of any way to reverse search from a part number to the other cars that used the part, although the data must be in FAST...

Good find Stripey, I know the only thing i had to change when i fitted my 34 Stagia RS4s Into my A31 Cefiro SE4 was the right front inner cv axle as the spline had changed, so all se4, rs4, r32,r33 , r34 GTR ect they are all the same the only difference is the right front inner cv axle spline has changed from a coarse spline to a fine spline on all R34 , 34 RS4 ect , thats were that drive shaft go into the transfer case on the right front inner. So easy interchanging Nissan parts are so cool, Jamind
