yep - will be me and the mrs as well if theres room for both nights. I've also got the bitch along too (thats Gerald). We have paid up for both days already.

I'm definitely not driving up Sat morning. Must stay there Friday night. We have 2 options to meet up beforehand. We can either meet at my place as is its 99% on the way (just down Thompsons Rd) - or we can meet at the huge service center on the corner of the gippy freeway and Thompsons Rd (BP, Macca's and Red Rooter)

BTW - does anyone know what the deal is with passengers on the Sat? Can you take them?

Also - had to have a laugh. Current forecast is for 10deg in Melb for Sat. Which means PhillIp Island will be about 4deg. LOL.

Hope the meterologists are wrong (again).

...Mmmmm hope not rain or I wont be going out I tell u now :P

Ive already paid the $250 so rain wont be stopping me from heading out, actually gives me a good excuse to help explain all my spins. :headspin:

If its heavy rain though ill chicken out and keep my speed to about 150km/h :) on the straights....still no way its going to rain on my first track day with the new turbo setup ;)

Just Remembered, i think i need a Fire extinguisher right? and it has to be attached in cabin somewhere - anyone suggest an easy place without doing too much damage to the interior of my car? :)

What about secondary bonnet restrant? if i bring some rope (how thick/what kind?) i can just tie it down can't i?

And what about something to do with the tyre valves? have to be metal or something?

Ferni,

1 - Fire Extinguisher - maybe speak to Chris (Scotsman) as to where he mounted his. I'm sure he didnt drill any holes. Also - if you haven't bought one yet then K-mart is the place to shop. You'll buy the same extinguisher that they have at race shops for half the price. (mine was $29)

2 - skylinegeoff will be best to answer this as he uses rope.

3. Steel Valve Caps - - go to Autobarn and get them - should cost about $7.

Just out of curiosity - is there anyone thats coming for both days that hasn't payed yet? My co-driver may be pulling out so I might have a paid up (and discounted) entry.

I use a plastic coated steel wire rope from an eye on the bonnet to the tow hook on the chassis. My fire ext is mounted just under the front of the right rear passenger seat where the drilling holes cannot be seen if I remove it.

Roy, book me for friday night and sat night :)

silly question, what are Steel Valve Caps ? and what are they for?

are they just the screw on caps that go over the valves used to pump up your tyres? if so why do you need steel ones?

skylinegeoff: i may have to ask you to show me where to tie the rope - where did you get yours from?

does the fire ext come with everything i need to mount it in cabin (ie bracket?)

You can mount an extinguisher without drilling any holes in a 33 by using the bolt that holds the bottom of the rear seat.

This is what I have done and what I told Chris to do - which Im pretty sure he did do.

The k-mart extinguisher comes with the mounting braket yes. All you need to do is unscrew the bolt and put it back in with the braket in place. It makes the extinguisher a tight fit but it can be closed.

Steel valve caps are exactly that. Why you need them Im not 100% sure - maybe they just want everyone to have a little bit of rice on their car? I dunno (its probably more to do with tyre pressures or something scientific but I like to believe its for the rice factor)

Yes, Mine is secured using the bolt at the bottom of the rear left seat.

I think whatever type of extinguisher K-mart have will be suitable (cant remember contents)

It comes with everything you need.

Rain is probably better for first track day people. It makes you go slower and you learn a lot quicker where the edge is. You learn where the car will start to move and realize how far you can push it. Don't let rain spoil you day. You will have just as much fun and because you wont be going 9/10ths you wont do damage.

Andrew, your making this harder than it needs to be! Follow these steps and you'll be right.

Step 1. Go to K-Mart.

Step 2. Find the fire extinguishers (they only sell about 2-3 of them)

Step 3. Select the cheapest 0.9kg one they have. Should be in a cardboard box and come with a black metal bracket.

Step 4. Go home and attach it to the lower rear seat mounting point.

Step 5. Get a beer and congratulate yourself on a job well done. (I know you don't drink but this final step is an important one) :)

:)
