Keeping the engine bay clean is more than just a cosmetic thing.. if you have any oil (or any other fluid) that starts to leak, it makes it a lot easier to pinpoint where its coming from.

It also makes the motor much nicer to work on, than if everything is clustered with grease and oil and dirt all smooshed into everything

Dudes not good to drive outta car wash with even the slightest amount of water on car, dust and dirt in the air love to stick to this. Best to chamois - can take less then 5 minutes doing karate kid style, wax on-wax off!

Used a laser carwash once, but about 5 mins after i drove out of there a farkin bird dropped a nice lump of shit on my bonnet

You shouldnt be steam cleaning ur engine bay that often as you will find that rubber hoses and plastic bits start to dry up and crack.
