I've got a 19 row Mocal on RB25DET Neo at 20psi and it seems to be fine on the track.

It gets really hot here during the summer. I have a pair of SPAL electric fans always on, and oil temps still creeps up on highway cruise

Ah that makes a lot more sense, I missed that part. Yeah bigger is better in that climate!

I can't imagine where you could mount a 25-row though besides between the rad and IC, shoehorning one of those under the headlight would win you a prize as a contortionist...

Indeed, though a bigger core won't really help with that unless you can get air flowing through it -> needs a fan.

Sorry I probably wasn't very clear - I meant oil cooler vs no oil cooler.

Summer will be the true test but I have noticed how stable the oil temp is since the cooler has been installed.

I have a Setrab series 6 25 row cooler, and it is slightly too tall to fit into the nismo ducting but was planning to cut and fibreglass the duct to fit it correctly. I will get some pictures tonight to show you what the issue is.

the setrab rows are much shorter than the older greddy style coolers, so 25 row setrab is slightly taller and longer than a 13 row Greddy/Trust one (which is basically the same core as the nismo one)

the greddy core is the same as the nismo one and I think would fit the duct perfectly. there are lots of 13 row coolers on the market with this older design so its an easier option. I went the setrab as I wanted the best cooler I could fit in there.

 

here is the genuine kit. the cooler is a 13 row one same as basically all the japanese brands, and now china copies.

Any update on how your Setrab 25 Row is fitting in the Nismo Duct ?

bit of closure for this thread. I bought a carbon bumper vent off ebay, had to chop a bit off the ducting as the cooler is a bit wider than its moulded for, and I used the nismo bracket set, made fitting MUCH easier.

basically the outside edge of the cooler is the datum point for the kit, and it just sits in a bit further than the nismo core would, so had to modify the bracket slightly to line up with the inner mounting points of the cooler. the fin row closest to the fittings sits outside the ductwork so its operating more like a 24 core.

very happy with it and should be WAY more effective than in front of the radiator.

Can you show me where you have to cut on the carbon ducting ? Did you have to cut a lot?

I had to cut along the inner edge that the two oil hose connections go on. the setrab series 6 is about 5mm too tall to fit in the ducting. so the whole top edge of the cooler (with the ports on it) sticks out of the ducting towards the engine. its actually about 1 row of the cooler.

I have no more pics, car is back together will all ducts/shields in place

Which AN size fitting did you go with at the end? -10 or -12 ?

And where did you get that longer gold color extension AN fittings before you attached with 90 degree fitting?

Used dash 10, and the longer an fitting came with the bnr34 oil cooler/remote mount kit. May be available seperately from rhdjapan?

All greddy bits have individual spare part numbers you should be able to find it.

Thanks will try to find that part. I will install the oil cooler soon been collecting parts too slow...

Today was 35+ Celsius outside, and with just light city driving oil temp already at 96c. My Spal 16" fan is already always on...

I would not be worried. A mate has a Mk7 gold and the oil temp is 105-110 all the time. Synth oils can take it no worries.

 

I only need to keep the oil and coolant under control for 5 WOT laps, because the tyres and brakes are f**ked by then anyway and sprint days are pretty much all short sessions.

    • Hey guys. I have a 400R on its way to Australia from Japan currently and have a few questions I’m hoping others may be able to help with.   Wondering if anyone here has had any luck getting the Sat nav unit to work in Australia!? Assuming the Stereo is as simple as a band expanded and tv won’t work?  Seeing as they’re based off a Q50 which is Aus delivered is there any way to link that system to the nav? Nav modules and head unit are different part numbers and appear slightly different at the rear with plug ins etc. can I put my xtrail sd card into the rv37 and will that convert the maps or update to Australian? Has anyone got any advice here?     also has anyone fitted the factory remote start and Security system once it’s landed in Australia? I put an enquirey to Nissan Japan in via a third party, and they suggested it needs a Nissan Japan dealers device to setup and couldn’t guarantee if one here could do it or not. They can supply and I can physically fit it but to setup I would need a dealers device. Any information here would be appreciated also. I’ve seen one here with it fitted already prior to leaving Japan at a dealer/inporter, so clearly passes compliance and works when fitted Japan and doesn’t need changing here.      also, does the tyre inflation sensors work here? Does anything change with them when the vehicle arrives? Where are they actually situated? I’ve read they have batteries and they need to changing at times and seems like resetting involves the nav system?    any help here would be appreciated and any other aust specific information to help would be great. Looking forward to see what the current generation skyline is like and eager to see how many of the gadgets can be utilised here.  Thanks in advance 
    • Do need to take it with a pinch of salt. One of the adapter failures, they clearly had setup issues with the flywheel.  One of the slipping ones I spoke to and it was pretty clear the throwout was riding, rather than fix, just swapped to a new clutch.    These clutches are being put in anything from 5k offroad 4x4 beaters, GR yaris, 500hp commodores to 1200hp barra monsters. Bound to be some issues in some of them when they are not a simple bolt in affair due to the changes in height.    There is a lot going on in this picture and unless I did the job myself no way to tell what really happened. 
    • I did this mod in 2019  You just have to modify the top bracket of the ABS/TC/Fuel Pump Control ECU so it sits more upright and closer to the back seat and run a good quality positive battery lead from the engine bay, the negative lead i just bolted down to the body in the boot.
