Easier to ask for forgiveness that permission lol

NO ! Easier to do what I did !

You simply say this when they want to buy a new car - " Sure no problem go and buy any car you like ! Its your choice as your the one who's going to be driving it the most so you should really get something you like ! "

Works every time.

lol classic

So what did she buy?

Surprisingly a Holden Astra !

Went through the grind of going car shopping for just about all the makes and found that the best appointed car for value was the Astra.

That and the fact that if your a vegan and the ethical and moral choice is not to buy a car with leather in it.

Try it some time and you will be very surprised at how hard it actually is to find a make without dead animal skins in it.

The the only thing that I wouldn't allow was a small car (Yaris sized etc) cause I've been in a few accidents in my time.

This coupled with the fact that now just about every second car is a people mover sized Ford Ranger and if your in a small car and get him at speed its game over.

lol I went the other way, Sold the wife's 2017 XT Forester, bought myself a 2017 Ranger to tow the Skyline, and bought her a 2015 Liberty. So many less features than the forester, but she still happy, sort of lol

Yup ! It was, in the end a toss up between the Subaru and the Astra but the Astra one out because to appoint the Subaru with the same features it would of cost nearly 8K more and that's a lot of coin in anyone's terms.

That's for sure
Being a Ford man, there is no way the wife was getting a Holden lol

Even though I've got the Prado now (and only because I genuinly needed ground clearance and 4wd/AWD). I still rate the SZ II Petrol Territory as the best family car I've owned, the SY I had was also very good. It tows better than the Prado and goes harder while using less fuel and arguably being a comfier ride all round.

Simple to repair/service and cheap to buy and maintain. As a car you own between say 0 and 140ks, they are excellent. All you really have to fix in that time is power steering pump and some window switches, both cheap and easy.

If I could have found a good lift kit and gotten an SZ AWD in Petrol (I hate turbo diesel) I'd have stuck with it.

For context, I've had 2 Commodores, 6 and an 8, and 3 6 cyl Falcons and 2 Terry's in amongst all my jap stuff.

Yer My dad has the same Territory and really rates it, but is a bit thirsty, but he is a lead foot and drives up and down Macquarie pass a few times a week.

I am a real fan of the XT range of Foresters. Had 3 of them now, and the only reason I got rid of the last one was the 1800 KG max tow rating. (and 80kms max speed while towing) But as a family car, it has it all. AWD, ground clearance, room for 5 people and 2 big dogs, all the bells and whistles expected in a current model car, cheap insurance thanks to the DOT technology, and goes like a scalded cat.

My car list is exhausting at 20+ I will have to write them down one day to get an accurate count lol

Did this with a mate, nowhere near 2 but I was second for total piston count in our group lol

Roughly in order, some owned at the same time.
