Dose Pipe Sutututu
Hey @Murray_Calavera the car has always been on full flex I stopped using compensation tables and have moved to a more 4D table approach, where the slider dictates which map I am on (anything in between is interpolated). Murray_Calavera
Nice, I haven't seen that done before. Is there an advantage of using a 4D table vs a compensation table or is it purely an ease of use thing? Also removes the need to do arithmetic when you're tuning, no need to go ahh I need to add 11 to my base table cell of 8 to give me 19. I "think" it makes tuning a bit easier, however still yields exactly the same results as using the conventional compensation tables as you and I are both well versed on. 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/468064-doses-sometimes-diy-and-pay-someone-home-boat-improvement-thread/page/123/#findComment-7967076 Share on other sites
Dose Pipe Sutututu
Now with a fresh alignment, a lot less toe in at the rear now as it's no longer needed (subframe offset by 10mm upwards). Front toe touched up and I think I'm some what ready for All Jap Day, which might end up being cancelled due to the rain. 5 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/468064-doses-sometimes-diy-and-pay-someone-home-boat-improvement-thread/page/123/#findComment-7967077 Share on other sites

Kinkstaah
Such a good color man. Really looks the business. Edit: And wheel fitment. And the stubby exhaust. Just well done all round tbh. Awesome to see. So much better than a generic M4. 2 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/468064-doses-sometimes-diy-and-pay-someone-home-boat-improvement-thread/page/123/#findComment-7967131 Share on other sites

The BMW sounds like a perfect match. tbh the owner I know who has one whom I got to beat the shit out of in the hills also has a R33 GTR. Would never swap the M4 for the GTR, but it makes for a very nice daily. He actually remarked about how compliant mine was for the bumpy roads without sacrificing grip actually. The two experiences just aren't comparable. If you find the badge snobbery fun, that's all there is to enjoy about it. Please find one to drive in the hills with your own car as a comparison then consider which set of keys you'd like to keep. I thought the grass was greener too (especially when it pulled up and I sat in it) but after driving both I was like yeah, no way... SavageGeese's review of the M4 did kinda sum up exactly how I felt (though he loved the gearbox, I thought it was really delayed and sluggish) Well worth a 30 minute watch. No Crust Racing
It's personal opinion. I test drove a stock M4 back to back with a MY11 400+awkw R35 within 30mins of each other back when I was thinking about what I might do after selling the 34R. I'd have taken the M4 as my weekend car on that day, more so for the luxury aspect- but I also have a track car so really it depends what you want to do with the car. 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/468064-doses-sometimes-diy-and-pay-someone-home-boat-improvement-thread/page/123/#findComment-7967229 Share on other sites

SavageGeese's review of the M4 did kinda sum up exactly how I felt (though he loved the gearbox, I thought it was really delayed and sluggish) Well worth a 30 minute watch. Did you change the DCT shift aggressiveness? It's a nondescript button next to the shifter, if you leave it in the least aggressive mode it slurs all the shifts and will optimize for fuel economy. If you put it up to max aggression it'll shift hard and fast and be willing to downshift and hold low gears for quite a long time. I do agree that the F80 is a very sterile experience. Put your foot down and you go incredibly fast with very little drama. The S55 also sounds awful and BMW has gone well out of their way to engineer out all the induction and turbo noise from the engine. If you leave it in efficient mode and push the accelerator pedal down just enough to keep the exhaust valves closed while still getting the engine into boost you will hear the slightest hint of turbo spooling but that's it. The suspension in comfort mode is actually very, very soft if you put a tire with a soft sidewall unlike the factory PSS or BMW spec PS4S. I got an R33 because of my experiences with that car knowing that R-chassis cars have all kinds of technical deficiencies relative to something like an F80. Kinkstaah
I assure you it was in super sport+ everything available. It definitely did not feel technically better in any form. Slower, worse handling, worse sound, much heavier, way less communication. It was a luxury car that had good power. I felt it a bit shameful calling it a 'competition' anything. No Crust Racing
I always find it interesting how people compare cars and what works/doesn't work for them. I think Johnny will like it, my 2 cents. 2 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/468064-doses-sometimes-diy-and-pay-someone-home-boat-improvement-thread/page/123/#findComment-7967241 Share on other sites

"it's very Type A, it's very technical, it's very engineering focused ....... and now you add in the fact it's now more reliable it appeals to a specific demographic" "everything about this car is objectively is near perfect, it rides well, the engine is extremely powerful, it's alarming fast, the steering is great, there is nothing I can technically fault this car for" Sounds like me inside/out, I'll convert it to a single turbo and it will dose and I will be happy.
