What's the news?

The ic7 will be firmware updated to allow 2-way CAN communication allowing additional inputs for the ECU. It will also be a master device now, so I believe it can act as a controller for the PDM. You can also customise logos etc.

Pretty much no need for an I/O expanded if you have a dash.

Also, there may be a new Haltech dash coming in the future, I hope they update the housing lol.

That's the only reason why I didn't buy an IC-7, I know it's silly, sure it's ugly but the car itself is pretty ugly too LOL.

Yeah, I think they are bringing out a bigger display. I think a 10”??

the ability to programme the buttons on the display is pretty good too.

One can hope, if not I'll just get an IC-7 and stop sooking.

Loaded up the latest firmware, oh wow... went for a drive and it's like I've setup Alpha-N and MAP compensation. I thought the transient table I built was good, but wow... this just brought it to another level.

@R3N3 this is how I make the car brap lol.. sounds better than rotational idle

Nice little timing hole lol

And for the idle control you want it to not much between -50 ~ -100 RPM

Awesome! I will compare the sound. I ended up dialling in the launch and rotational idle 100% many bangs and flames were had. Although I’m a little worried about my stock oil pump gears…

Didn't you want to build a new motor? LOL.

Haha, true! The plan is to switch out a working motor with another working and better motor…

Last time @admS15 used his launch control, he lost a turbine LOL.

As much as you like to complain about it, your car is a looker! Is this photo with new tints? Which ones did you end up going with?

It's on my list of things to do, though not at the top. Being able to see nothing at all out of the windows when it's dark and wet outside gets old very quickly.

I work in IT, complaining is a prerequisite LOL.

I went with a legal 35% tint, it's some ceramic bullshit (apparently good?). Got it done by Tint a Car in Moorebank.

Haha, fair enough. Yeah ceramic is meant to be better with keeping off heat. Or so I learned doing all of five minutes of research.

But for some reason the extra photos you included in your post that show the new tint don't load.

    • The second part yes, the first part about easy VE calculation is something I've seen a few people talk about online.
    • You 100% could do that, would save money on a gym membership lol. But yeah, getting a cordless orbital sander will feel priceless coming from doing it manually.  Good luck with it mate
    • I initially was going to do the whole car with a block then realised, it would be a bigger monster of the job 😂 I guess that's all part of the learning process. I appreciate all that advice, I think I got a good idea on how to tackle this whole job.
    • I admire your efforts with the scuff pad.  As a mere mortal, I use this for the baulk of my sanding work- https://sydneytools.com.au/product/milwaukee-m18bos125-0-18v-li-ion-cordless-125mm-5-random-orbital-sander-skin-only Yes you can easily create a low spot while sanding. There are 2 types of filler, 1 part of 2 part. The 2 part filler will get used for large corrections and the 1 part filler will get used for pin holes and areas that only need slight filling.  Depending on how zealous you are with the sander (very easy to do with a power tool) or if you are chasing rust etc, yes those low spots will need to get filled or you will end up with a very obvious defects in the paint.  Using the guide coat and large sanding block, high and low areas will be revealed (watch youtube videos for a good visual on this). Its up to you if you think its worth the effort to make the car completely flat before you spray it (you make it flat by filling the low areas).  At the end of the day, it comes down to time. The end result comes from the level of prep put in to the car. If you want a perfect result, you have to put in the time during the prep stage or else it will be impossible to achieve a perfect result during the spraying process.
