R33gtst2016
I recently purchased an r33 gtst series 1. Understood it needed abit of work to getting it up to a nice proud standard. Drove it for a month and noticed it was getting worse to drive so I changed back to the pulsar to drive, bought a couple thing to get back upto scratch, the first on the todo list was the fuel pump to stop the bucking when accelerating and to cut back on the fuel burn. Seen how to do it seemed simple enough, after doing fuel pump my car has not been able to start, cranks but no start. I have noticed a cat over heat light on when trying to start then once I stop it turns off and the check engine light comes on, can any one give me any ideas on how to fix this problem or any ideas on what this problem could be. Could it be in the rare occasion of a dodgey fuel pump? I haven't driven it in about 2 months and just want to go for a nice drive. Any help is appreciated. GeeDog
If it was running before you replaced the pump, it's odds on that something in that area is the problem now. Are you sure the new pump is physically installed properly? I've done this job a few times, and it's not the easiest thing to seat in the bracket. If it isn't in properly, and if the tank level is low, it may not pickup any fuel. Are you sure you plugged the cables back in properly? What fuel pump did you install, and did you have to redo the wiring (ie to fit a Wahlbro or similar pump)? If you've reversed the wire polarity the pump will run, but you won't get fuel to the injectors. Can you hear the pump start running when to turn the ignition on? Get someone to help so you can get your ear in the boot. If you've got someone to help you, you can remove the a fuel line (feed or return) from the fuel rail, and turn the ignition on - you should get fuel flowing (preferably into a container, not over the engine). If you are competent with auto elec stuff, you can hotwire the fuel ump fairly easily, so it runs all the time. GH05T
... what would the battery have to do with anything? what made you think the fuel pump was making the bucking issue, sounds like an afm issue or ...well any of the massively covered problems with hesitation. how did you diagnose the problem to the fuel pump? why would a fuel pump issue cause fuel burn? surely it would cause a leaning out issue? work your way back, check whatever you have touched and see what is wrong. once its fixed i bet my balls your original issues are still there. search about hesitation/ bucking issues and work out whats actually wrong. and if it hasnt been driven in a while do a service, fluids, filters, spark plugs, the basics Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/468574-my-r33-isnt-starting-am-out-of-ideas/#findComment-7804218 Share on other sites
R33gtst2016
I went over coils and plugs nothing was wrong with them I went over a couple idea with the mechanic and he said it was common for the fuel pump to do such things, it was a big hesitation on acceleration and major bucking too, looked up a couple things on here and the few I looked at said fuel pumps to after they checked coils and spark plugs. I thought the battery may reset the ecu or clear code or do something Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/468574-my-r33-isnt-starting-am-out-of-ideas/#findComment-7804224 Share on other sites
