Hi all,

If i remove the sat nav screen and dvd drive will the engine still run?

Yes you should have no problem. I removed the entire dash, center console for painting and the engine still starts and runs.

Can I ask, why are you removing the nav and DVD drive?

Why because it's totally unless here in the UK. Can't see the point of keeping it just for the rear camera. 

And the bose head unit has to go also as it doesn't read uk cds, radio is very poor and no usb/ ipod.

I'm pretty sure you need the entire dash to run the car. You have the V36 right? InfinitiG35 is talking about the V35 pretty sure.

Yeah I'm talking about V35 but both are very similar. The DVD, climate control removed should not create issue with engine starting up.

Sorry I'm ask about my skyline 350gt (g35).

So the engine will run but will dash show faults with screen/dvd missing?

No I removed sat Nav on mine and installed a dash kit instead and nothing went wrong. However if you don't really have a kit, what I recommend is just take the power from the sat nav. This way it does turn on but at the same time you don't have an empty space till you get a kit.

I saw someone on Gumtree sells this kit for $250.. I mean, seriously??

I actually paid a bit for the whole kit. Pocket+dash = $800 which was a while ago ( and I was stupid). I recently bought a second hand jdm dash kit + pocket which came with the deal for $300

I'm going to rip the lot out!  Bose Hu and amp, dvd drive and screen.

I've won a double din fascia from japan, just waiting for it to turn up.

But it's black and not silver so going to get it wrapped or hydro dipping.

Hydro dipping will take a long time. I recommend just going vinyl wrapping.
