wanna sell me your sump and oil pick up from your blown motor? :)

Haha, yeah maybe. I might list the bottom end complete first and see how it goes.

The head's been paid for and couriered today, that was fast. Thanks once again @admS15 for the tip!

The new engine has arrived from Sydney today, fingers cross I'll have the car back next week yay! Lots of new seals and gaskets going in, radiator and intercooler are getting flushed etc, getting it all done properly.

Ok the replacement engine is in, my mechanic did a very tidy job with it.

I'm currently in the process of ironing out a couple of niggles, one of them being the drop of oil still collecting at the bottom of the turbo front housing. The working theory was that it might have been leaking from the turbo oil feed but my mechanic pulled out the fitting and it seemed all good. One of the housing front housing bolt threads wasn't holding so we've replaced the bolt with a longer one that now tightens properly. We've also left out the catch can for the time being.

Does anyone have any other ideas on where the heck that oil might be coming from? Like Tao said there are no oil galleries in the comp cover so it doesn't make a lot of sense to me...

Is the face between the comp cover and the diffuser plate properly sealed with either an o-ring or some thin sealant?

Good question, I'm actually not sure. However I never had this issue before late last year and I just can't work out if it's engine related (blowby) or turbo related (oil feed or internal)...

...

In other news, my old bottom end is for sale: https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/469657-fs-rb25det-neo-stock-bottom-end-needs-inspection-and-rebuild/

Forgot to ask if you checked the intake pipe connection? I know i've had oil weeping from there in the past.

You mean where the intake connects to the turbo front housing? Not recently, I will have a look

    • You'd want to cap off the re-entry back into the dump too. Just something flat that can be held on by the Vband.
    • Thanks for the recap Matt Z. It was a great day out and I know you have said it already, but we couldn’t have done it without the volunteers.
    • Couldn't agree anymore, massive thanks to all that came by, helped out, or those who just wanted to talk cars. You are the community that make this such a great car club. cant wait for what we have planned for the future
    • Looking at the photos, you could easily just drop this pipe and dump into atmosphere  Just 1 or 2 quick hits for data acquisition - if have a heat shield material and/or sheet metal, maybe just use wire/metal cable ties and attach it in a way to deflect heat from melting nearby wires.
