Hi, Im James

Hi all,

I'm James,

I've recently joined the forum after reading posts for quite some time.

I am on the hunt for a near stock R32 GTR, and I am currently talking to importers about buying one from Japan.

I know buying a shmick condition GTR is going to be a tricky task and might take some time looking for the right car.

Hi James. whats your budget and what are you looking for?

its a funny old market for 32s as you have probably found, you must make sure your buying a good example as their prices are high. allot of average cars will be asking for the same high money that a properly clean example is worth as pickings are getting much slimmer than they were, the prices will stabilize so you have time to get the right one.

Hi Glyn,

thanks for the advice,

yes, so far I have found the market to be quite "interesting" to say the least. With the American influence on the Japanese market pushing prices quite high.

In saying that though, this doesn't mean that the majority of R32's in Australia are worth the same amount.

I believe the demand is for non-modified, clean cars, with the obvious high demand for the rarer v-spec and n1 models

I haven't committed to importing yet, as I still need to convince the boss that importing is a safe enough investment..

but, what I am looking for in the GTR to buy,

  • Later model is better, 1993-94 (series 3)

  • As close to un-modified as possible (I know this is a tricky one)

  • Colour isn’t as important, but original good condition paint, not requiring repair

  •  No interior modifications or additions, and also non-smoker

  • Lower km’s better, mechanical integrity and well serviced
  • No damage to the under carriage, no rust etc

With that criteria in mind, I am setting my budget accordingly
and so, I wont be rushing to buy the first one on offer

The purpose of the purchase is to have an enjoyable "Sunday driver" kept in top condition, that will  hopefully appreciate over the next decade or two.
