Kind of but not really!

Hi Guy's,

It's been a long while since I was here last so I'm kind of a newbie again.

All things brake design and R&D at DBA is what I do now and did many years ago. We have some cool projects in progress and this forum has always been a good source of feedback. I hope to have some interesting discussions in the future.

Sorry I'm not the guy for product enquiries or sales. There are good people here for that.

Happy to help with any tech questions or help sort out any issues. I'll be stalking the brakes section.

Cheers,

Steve

Does Kangaroo Paw™ actually work? I kid :P

On a more serious note regarding two-piece rotors, can DBA make some with non-DBA mount holes? E.g. for Grex/Trust hats.

Or is it more economical to just buy DBA rotors that match in size?

Hi niZmO,

Hmmm! I designed "The Paw" back in 2002 and it's still sold globally. So yup!  There's a lot more to it than the pillar vane though.

Two piece rotors. There are some AP and Brembo mount hole versions in the range. No reference to the GReddy kits though.

It's possible if there was enough demand to justify a production run or you may be lucky and the hole positions match the AP or Brembo replacements. Need more info.

All the math (stress/shear loads) is done on the DBA rotors as an assembly. Mods and specials really should follow the same process. I always look at risk v dollar$.

I read somewhere (I can't remember where), someone said it was a shame and it did nothing, I had a chuckle.

But yeah thanks for the reply. I know DBA did R33 (one piece) rotors without drilling the stud holes but it was a very limited run (some R31 people grabbed them and drilled 4x114.3 for the R33 4pot front brake conversion). I might even take some measurements (if I remember, and if I find my veniers) of my GReddy brakes.

    • I also built one, for a bit of a laugh. Pretty happy with it. Basically, obtained a clear garnish, painted it sanded back the paint off the letters, clear coated it. Inserted a 3cm EL strip through a slot I created in one end and sealed it up.

    • wow so i just logged back in after buying the 33 and joining SAU, And I've got all a whole bunch of you wanting to know more, well unfortunately it still doesn't run i was hoping it was seized from a snapped timing belt as i turned it over by hand and it was fine and then it did a few revolutions and jammed solid when i was running it with the key, so the timing belt is mint, I've also found a lot of the parts I'm removing have already got bolts undone or not quiet tight enough to be unsuspicious. so the plan is to find a running RB30 block and chuck my head on it.  I have a habit of buying stuff I don't need or require so for my none running engine i have a forward facing plenum , Apexi power fc, 40mm Turbosmart wastegate, And for the car its self coilovers ,low seat rails and BRZ seats (black seats with red stitching i already had these and they are ADR Approved and allow rear passengers access)
    • I took apart the dash and found this strange 2 pin connector. it dosen't seem like its factory or oem, any clue on why someone would add it and where it might have been connected too?
