Nistune or aftermarket ecu??

Hey guys just wanting to get my car tuned and i have a standard ecu. From what ive researched im at a stage of either buying an apexi ecu or getting a nistune done and im just wondering who has either one on an r33 and which would be better. Cheers in advance :)

Nistune would be better of the two but you can't fit it to an R33 ECU so you need to get around that and provide a trigger for the VCT. Google for how to or get on the Nistune website.

Better but more expensive would be a Link.

But first check with your tuner that he can tune your ecu of choice.

Great im obviously out of my depth as i thought the nistune was for an r33 ecu. Money isnt an issue as long as its worth it in the long run. I thought it was gonna be as simple as plug in then tune then dust hands n happy days lol. Turns out im the simple one. :/

Ask/pick a tuner and ask what they tune. I'd recommend Link if money is no object and you have a tuner that is capable of tuning it

Nistune is fine. Link can be pretty much plug and play if that sounds easier

Power FC is fine if its just a street car and you understand they are a bit dated. They are truly plug and play but not alot of features when compared to most others out there

Don't get me wrong, a Power FC will make your car quicker, but one day you might want to run E85 or maybe a MAP sensor and you wont be able to

Depends what your future goals are really

Original idea was to buy a rb26 and work that for a while but decided against it as im not looking gor extreme power just enough to be happy with. Ive still got other problems ive been seaching on here i might have to make a new thread my power steering works when i first drive it then if i stop at shops n start again no power steering if anyone has had this problem can u post a link ive looked at many and tried many things to no avail :(

Must have lost my reply when they had server dramas

It is your HICAS ECU.

I had the same issue. Power steering would work fine first thing then next time I started the car (when it had sat for half an hour or an hour or so) power steering heavy
Changed the HICAS ECU and never had a drama since. Quite possible that it is just a resistor/diode/capacitor etc that is faulty in the unit but a second hand one only cost me $50 from memory so just went with that
