Looking for a power upgrade for my R33 GTST, have been offer a set of T04E turbo with RB20/25 ex manifold, and wastegate.

At moment, my car has standard exhaust system, Blitz pod and power fc. (FMIC is on the way coming..)

Some pic:

1) Just wondering is the RB20/25 manifold interchangeable? (had varies answer from different source....I meant not try to modify it)

2) From the pic of ex manifold, Will or what other turbo can fit the flange?

3) Will the T04E laggy? what rpm we talk about the turbo start spool? 2500/3000/4000?

4) I assuming that I need a customise dump pipe made for it right?

5) Injector will be something need to look into, say 550 cc? with a GTR ot large Fuel pump?

thanks in advance.

yeah you will need a new exhaust system not a stock one the rb20 and 25 manifolds are the same. in most cases.

injectors, bigger fuel pump ,managment, afm etc etc.

it depends on what you want do you want a 12 second car if so then this is the turbo for you.as for boost it will be between 3500 -4000 but very liveable so you can drive in traffic off boost and when you nail it it will fly. don't stress about when boost comes on cause when you hit boost with this turbo 1 second later you will be looking for the next gear

btw you can run this turbo with stock injectors but just lower boost the stock injecotrs are good for 210-220 rwkw that might be enough for you.

just some ideas.

in my book this is one of the best suited turbo's for an rb25 and should keep you happy. but you need to ask yourself it that kind of power is what you want!

Thanks, meggala

Hi-flow the stock turbo was my initial idea, however after doing some research and went out to get the quo, I feel sell my stock one and get something else also seems to be a good idea, then this set comes up at very fxxk cheap price ( sorry, the price will offend some people).

What I plan to upgrade was first have a full set of exhause system, however this set comes up, and I know i will not have same set coming again soon, therefore i might get this turbo first then save some money for exhause system.

210/220kw :burnout: was not really at my target (don't dare to dream about..), but acceleration mainly is my conser....so, when you say keep the boost low, what exact is the boost you will suggest?

thanks once again, you did solve my question.

What exactly have you done to your car?...from my point of view it sounds like its stock at the moment correct?

Remember when upgrading a turbo you would need to upgrade everything else to cope with the new power its going to increase on your engine.

I would not touch a turbo unless your car is breathing properly, Full exhaust/Intercooler, Secondly you would need the fueling system to cope, Fuel pump / Injectors (depending on how far you wanna go)/ Fuel Pressure Regulator. After that you would need a ECU to tune everything correctly.

Not trying to sell you out here, if its a really good price buy it but dont install it is my advice, untill everything is fine.

I wouldnt run more then 1bar on that thing, 10psi as meg said if your just crusing around the streets, from what ive heard from people who had done this, said you start spooling around 3500-4000 rpm (if you dont mind the lag also) once turbo kicks in hold both steering wheel with 2 hands

Have fun with it mate, Best of luck

just remember if you let this bargin go away im here 2 grab it :P

Joe.

Thanks Joe and Mag.

It's stock, only have air pod and PowerFC.

I will not install the turbo, that's what i think atm, because this cheap turbo set won't come again, but the rest gears can buy at anytime.

I post a thread a while ago, regarding the FMIC ( see here ), can any one coming some suggestion? please!!

I am ring around for a 3.5" Full exhause system, but the dump pipe might have to modify to suit the turbo.

Z32 AFM and R33GTR fuel pump is in place , but still looking for 550 cc injector, but one thing not sure is "do I need a new fuel rail?" anyone recommand?

Clouch will be next issue, however my budget is a bit short after all these, i might wail until it slip.......(if by any chance)

of course, the turbo will sit in my garage for a while, until rest all up and ready, however if I get scare away by that sort of "both hand on steering" then it will on the market...will let you guys know..

cheers,

Once youve got it would you mind telling us the price?

The only reason I ask is that I am putting the same setup on my 32. I got a HKS T04e for $400, a brand new turbosmart external wastegate for $470 and modified a stock manifold at a cost of $200. The turbo had a crap compressor whell so I got that changed and had the thing rebuit at a cost of $600. So mine has cost under $1700 and is new basically.

What is the exhaust A/R, and the whell sizes as these make a difference. Have a good look at the wastgate as these can rust and seize and this is not good.

You will need a new dump off the turbo as well as one off the wastegate. The only turbos that will fit the manifold are those with a T04 flange.

With you injectors you could make a new rail and use top feed injectors and I have also heard about people drilling them to bigger sizes, may be worth a look.

thats the same turbo as ive got on an RB20

im using a HKS external wastegate and its on HKS exhaust manifolds.

full boost is around 4000rpm so not TOO bad. it does come on boost fairly hard though!

im currently making 230rwhp in a very badly tuned state. thats with 12-13psi and a bosch 910 fuel pump

hopefully with a remap and 1 bar should be pushing the 200rwkw mark!!

if you can get it cheap and dont mind a bit of lag then yes its a good turbo. just make sure you sort out your management and fuel system as well, ive blown one engine already due to too much boost and not enough fuel!!!

good luck with the turbo/car!

adam

Thanks guys, will let you know the detail once all sort out.

Yes, just source a second habd 3.5" front to cat back (the canon style) at very reasonable price, well at least can use it for 2 month before pay for it...

For the dump pipe to work with the tubo, i should just wait and have it custimise made right? thanks.

Me thinks lag is pretty cool.

You can be driving Miss Daisy until your floor it then hold on. Personally I'd hold the steering wheel with one hand cause gear changes come pretty quick.

Car becomes Jekyl & Hyde. Can drive around not hitting boost, with no blow off valve noise to attract unwated attention. But you know it's there when you want it.
