Can you use polish on small rust spots?

I've got a very small rust spot on my car, no bigger than 1-2mm that just recently started to rust after i accidentally scratched it a few months ago., I saw a youtube video saying that you can just get polish to remove the rust by wiping down on it hard. I also had a friend tell me to wipe it hard with vinegar, but is that safe for the paint around the stratch? Also if i dont treat the rust, will it just continue rusting from underneath the paint from the areas surrounding the rust? Ive already bought touch up paint but im not sure the best way to remove the small rust spot without f**king the paint. thanks.

Next time you touch up any bare metal straight away.

Yes it will continue to rust until it has rusted all it could rust.

Usually you sand it. But you can try a coarse polish. Might work or might not.

If it doesn't then a easy fix is get a rust converter. Then paint over it.

sand it back, say 200 [if your rust is really bad] then 400 then 800 then 1200 grit emery, don't rush, take your time.

Then paint it, mask off, primer, undercoat then colour.  Let it dry for a few days then cutting polish and then polish to blend it in.

or just use a converter then kilrust and it will fix it but it will look like sh1t!!!

Or drive to the nearest panel beater shop.... by the time you buy emery, converter, primer, paint, and all the other stuff, plus time etc it will probably not be that much different.
