Pr0x1mity
Timing tensioner stud snapped - Boo The other night my RB30DET suffered greatly. Thought I ran out of fuel or something. Filled it up and nothing. The question: RB30e bottom end RB30ET 20thou down pistons RB25de neo head Interference or nah? Am replacing the stud, taking cams out and putting it all to TDC. Hoping for the best.. If not, new head I guess Has anyone else had timing issues and got away with it? Do you fancy my chances? Duncan
I'm not certain about rb30 hybrid, but all other RBs (except apparently rb20) are interference. dave1200
If it's a neo head you'll know if you've bent valves or not by just putting some feelers between cam and lifter. Standard gaps are something in the 0.010" range, if you've bent a valve you'll find a lot more than that gap. PS - I don't like your chances..... KiwiRS4T
Take the head off anyway and hope its only valves - but you may have damaged pistons as well. Surely it would be the same as all other RB's Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/470290-timing-tensioner-stud-snapped-boo/#findComment-7827487 Share on other sites

Scott Black
On the engines I've dealt with that have had bent valves about 80% have been able to get new valves. Lap the seats and away you go. The others were not so lucky Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/470290-timing-tensioner-stud-snapped-boo/#findComment-7838307 Share on other sites
