Oil for fresh rebuild

Hello again

 

I'm about to drop my freshly built motor in and would like to know what oil to use to break the engine in and what oil to use after and what sort of mileage should I use the break in oil for before changing...

Some specs

Forged internals

Forward facing plenum

Gt35 garret turbo on high mount

800cc injectors

Nistune to be tuned

Brand new head

Turbosmart wastegate

Hoping to run 12-15psi

Fuel pressure regulator bla bla bla

All the other bits I can't think of

Hoping to get 400hp from her, would like more but will see how I go.

 

So what sort of oil do you guys think?

Unreliable his commitment to my build plus he is on holidays in some Asian country.
I'd rather first hand experience in the matter though...

Use a mineral oil (not a synthetic). Push it hard without going OTT and watch for overheating and leaks. Do not baby it. Most of the running in should be done on the dyno with the initial tune. Dump the oil and keep using mineral oil for the first 10,000 and then switch to a quality synthetic.

Sounds like a plan I use Pe rite in everything else

I used nulon 10w40 mineral oil. Im no expert but my engine hasn't exploded yet so must be ok
