I have had my car for a year now and have only used my ABS once last winter...... ABS is good...i wouldn't pay HEAPS extra for it though depends what kind of a driver you are though...

Haven't really thought about it much...you get a ABS dash light though

It was wet roads and was on a cruise so even if i had normal brakes i prob would have been ok.....

ABS for sure.

All it takes is not paying enough attention one wet night and not lifting when the wheels lock up = big nasty skid.

Never need crumple zones, seatbelt or airbag if you don't hit something in the first place:p

Yeah, I thought they where standard on the series II's... Maybe to start off with they just imported the ones with the ABS cause they would sell better.

OH well.... Mines a series 1 and it's got ABS  but it stopped working a few days ago... :P still have to figure out why it's stopped .....

ABS is definitely not standard on seriesII

my friends seriesII didn't have ABS but my series1 did as an option, it is pretty rare and if i were u tgriffin i wouldn't bother only searching for cars with abs, you'll be looking forever. I'd say about 2/5 R33s would have ABS.

Thanks for the info guys.

As far as I've ascertained it's an option throughout the R33 range, but the R34s come with traction control and ABS standard.

Thanks for your help guys, I was a bit hung up about getting ABS cos I'm upgrading significantly (1.6L 86kw -> 2.5L turbo ~190kw!!!), but they seem so rare.

I got it from Dean (vspecv on the forums) (http://www.upimports.com.au/).

I have nothing but praise for Dean's service. I was so fussy and he never got frustrated after I kept rejecting car after car!

The car is a silver Spec-II 1996, turbo, manual, 51,000kms (with ABS! hehe) with an exhaust and some aftermarket wheels. Just what I wanted!

thats wrong, abs is an option on all r33 gtst, whether it be series 1 or 2.

i have landed plenty of s2 1996-1998 without abs and yes they can be difficult to find with abs,i have a customer who we have been looking for a silver car with abs and of all the 96-98 models we looked at only approx 25% had abs

    • Yes the gear for the R33/34 is different, it is red and has a different number of teeth. My part didn't come with that gear though, so I don't know how many teeth are on the red one. You'd have to reuse the 260RS/R33 gear, as long as it's not destroyed.   Haha, as unfortunate as that might be it was working fine for about the first 1500km I've had the car for now.
    • Update all   thanks to the workshop manual, it lead me back to checking fuses as mentioned central locking and door open lights worked when acc was switched on. diagram attached shows two points of power 1. ACC and 2.  Batt with the later being fused (#28) I did check the fuses using a multimeter but I must have stuffed that up also. Went back and checked the batt fuse in interior fuse box and you wouldn’t believe it… a blown fuse. replaced fuse and everything is now working as it should including the climate control   thank you all with your positive insight and knowledge.
    • Where is the warning "That this thread is super old"   I just went into a 5 year old thread, went to do a reply, and couldn't see anywhere obvious a warning of it being super old
    • Duncan is correct. Pitwork (and Toyota's own cheap brand "Drive Joy") were primarily created as brands to sell other manufacturers car parts. It would be weird if Nissan sold parts for Toyota vehicles with a Nissan logo on it, so they created Pitwork to sell parts for other brans Toyota, Honda etc. They are not the same as Nissan genuine parts, although they *do* meet Nissan's standards for replacement parts. They aren't supposed to be a substitute for genuine parts, but a cheaper alternative that is better than Ebay fake parts from you-know-where.
