Fuel Smell

I have an r33 gts25t. On start up there is a strong smell of unburnt fuel from the exhaust. i have also noticed it sometimes when idling. When I start the car, the smell drifts past the drivers window. The car is starting fine and runs well. I have a Mines Engine Management Computor and am wondering if it is this causing it. I have an air pod and 4" stainless exhaust. Any idea's, comments would be greatly appreciated.

One of your fuel lines might have a split in it?

We had this problem too.. The smell of petrol and the like. Could smell it really bad when the aircon was on.

are you sure its from the exhaust because I had a similar problem when i bought my car and I discovered that the fuel sensor cover in the boot wasn't put on properly.

It could just be the fuel cap.....when my car runs i can see fumes comming outa the fuel filler area, although it still seems to hold pressure as i get a psssschh when i re fuel.

When u reverse or the wind is coming from behind the fumes come thru the window.

My exhaust fumes are bad to inhail altogether. Smells alot strong

than the fumes normal australian cars produce.

Fuel is definitely coming from the exhaust. When cold it runs so rich u can see grey smoke when its idling. I am wondering whether it could be some sort of cold start mechanism. Does anyone know how or where this could be and how to check it? I dont know whether it is running rich when hot and driving, but cant see smoke when hot. And yes, it is definitely rich smoke not oil. The motor has 60 000 km on it and doesnt use any oil. The engine also runs like a clock and the only miss-fire it has, is at 7000 rpm.

mine gets parked in a locked up garage and i can sometimes smell fuel when i visit the girl in the morning...

Also am noticing back firing when i get of the gas??? (have to admit tho', it does sound good!

i lurrrrrrve it when she pops! Been using normal ulp in her for a while now cos i'm a little broke and apart from a few flat spots and lots more popping its all good!
