Hi guys, been on the forum for quite some time but never really posted as i tend to be a bit more active on and English one... however i found this forum has loads of great technical info.

I finally had a weekend free to put a GTR M.F.D. into my R34 GTT

Overall went fairly well.... wondering if anyone else has done this before as I have 2 issues.

1. the cover that goes over the unit sticks up at the back (near the windscreen) and won't sit flush with the dash. Does it need to be modified to fit or am I missing something.

2. It doesn't seem to be picking up a reading from oil temp or water temp sensors. Anyone have any advice on why or how to fix. The oil temp reading is currently wired into what used to be the triple gauge meter for it and the water temp is wired off the back if the Speedo gauge (as per attached wiring diagram) but no readings from either.

I know a few people on here have done this mod so....

Any suggestions??

Thanks!!! IMG-20170531-WA0003.jpg

Good to see it worked I have also just finished putting one in my gtt and it looks nice..

About the cover not sitting flush with dash I personally think that it is supposed to be like that. If you follow the top side edge line of the cover you will find that it lines up with the dash.

I don't have a v-spec MFD so mine doesn't have intake gauges

I can help you get the mfd pick up intake and exhaust display. Since you don't have the sensors it won't display values but you will have 7 rows of display.

Yes that's pretty much what needs to be done .
I first connected the AMB to the intake sensor and ran the diagnostic mode it shows that it had the sensor registered but wouldn't show in the display. Then I connected the same AMB to exhaust temp and ran the diagnostic mode it registered the exhaust temp as well and then finally both the intake and exhaust temp display was showing. Hope that helps

    • Does anyone know what the centreline should be for the vct intake cam? On my cam spec card it just says VARI and doesn’t actually tell me what the centreline should be. I had to adjust my exhaust cam gear by about 5 degrees advanced so I’m guessing I would have to adjust my intake as well? Current intake centreline is 119 deg. Iv already asked kelford and they won’t respond, It’s the 246-A 262 cams.  thanks for the help guys
    • Get a timing light on it and verify it's sparking reliably at a sane ignition timing. Use a COP extension lead to be 100% sure about timing instead of hoping that the timing loop on the back of the engine is accurate. Make sure it's actually injecting fuel. MAF is not used on the stock ECUs for initial cranking.
    • RE5R01A is the transmission. Didn't realize they had a 5 speed for the NA cars but for some reason the turbo engines stuck to 4 speeds. Looks like the solenoid block is still available from Nissan directly at a somewhat reasonable price: 31940-60X01 https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/epc/nissan-japan/skyline/er33/6568-rb25de/trans/317 I would move sooner on this than later. The moment the de minimis exception for Japan goes away expect to be paying 25% tariffs even for stuff like this.
    • Only RB26 are low from factory. And even then the ECU actually want high impedance, because it's essentially the same ECU as the RB20 anyway, and thus they have a f**king resistor pack!
    • Is this preventable by priming the system with external oil pressure? I've seen the speed academy folks hook up an external oil priming system to the oil pressure sensor port with an air compressor to check for oil leaks before putting an engine back in a car. Something like this: https://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/23550/10002/-1?gPromoCode=SPRINGINTOSPEED_APR25_5Off&gQT=1
