Idle AFR and throttle enrichment on rb26

Setup: Nistuned R32 GTR, stock cams, 1000cc xspurt, Nismo MAFs.

My idle is 12:1 hot (injector latency is set higher than spec), but i also have some leaning out just as the throttle is first opened. I was hoping to be able to reduce the latency to lean up idle, and fix the throttle leaning out by tweaking the throttle enrichment. However, I cant see any throttle enrichment tables in Nistune, and the Nistune doc says they are "Only available for some (RB series) vehicles".

So, it it normal not to have throttle enrichment tables on early R32 GTR ECUs?

And if it is normal, is there any point in trying to bring the idle closer to 14.7 and then using the fuel map to try to offset the leaning out?

You can enable Alpha-N flag which will squirt extra fuel based on the TPS voltage change, I've never used this feature on any Nissan I've tuned on Nistune but I suspect with the GTR and 6 ITBs you get air into the cylinders before the AFM(s) are able to register a change. I think this "may" only be available on the Feature Pack version of Nistune as I've only recently noticed it.

Try setting the idle cells to 0 and also change the possible minimum TP Load. Also disable the o2 correction on those cells (usually bottom 4) by highlighting them and pressing O (for octopus).

Thanks man. I dont have either Feature pack, but I also notice in V2 the "Injection Latency table" sounds interesting, as;

"With the larger injector sizes offered by companies like Bosch (Injector Dynamics) and sometimes to resolve issues
with other injector brands, the custom adjustment of latency is required at various voltage levels."

I'll have a look for Alpha-N - sounds like it should help.

The idle fuel cells are already at 0 (is that weird?), and IIRC I dont need to turn off o2 correction as its not used in the bottom left hand quarter of the map, right? (eg the filtered /unfiltered difference)

o2 correction will be still applied, they are the cells highlighted in that teal/green-ish colour, the best way to see if they are doing anything is by looking at the Short-term & Long-term Fuel trim graphs.

If they're on '0' and your AFRs are stupid rich, try dropping the latency a little bit - however if the injections don't like low pulsewidths then you're going to massive issues with light load / moderate RPM cruise.. it will buckle and splutter.

Ok, I wasnt in "expert" mode so the throttle enrichment tables were hidden.

The Xspurts are Bosch, and they're supposed to still work well at low pulsewidths. I'll try dropping the latency and putting on more throttle enrichment as a first stop. Then later look at Feature pack if its still not right.

    • Absolutely this. Yes, except not vacuum hose. Something oil/fuel safe is a better idea.
    • Like a Stagea, but not as cool! Hope you have enough garage space for this, or is something going to leave to make way for it?
    • The new project has arrived. I have wanted one of these for such a long time, well before that meathead Clarkson drove one in Africa. I really wanted an E34 but I have some medical issues that mean I *really* can't bump my head and the lack of airbags in the E34 made it just too big of a risk.  I don't know why I've always liked these older touring BMW's to be honest, but man I love this car. She's been pretty well maintained for her 243k's with what appears to be only a single oil leak at the oil filter housing gasket. It has a bunch of updates including later model bumper and headlights, 7 series billion-way adjustable seats and it came with a few spares and another set of wheels with legal tyres. I got a unregistered car permit from the RTA and drove it back from Canberra on Saturday.                   First cab off the rank is cleaning it up for blue slip. I dont know how picky they'll be but I figured I'd clean the headlights, fix the oil filter housing gasket, replace the speed sensors (throwing errors) and swap the OE wheels (the M Sport wheels have a big chunk out of one of the tyres.) I also need to replace all 6 gas struts - 2 for bonnet, 2 for hatch and 2 for hatch glass. The car tries to eat me whenever i open any of these. My plan for this car; Ultimately, this is a budget car. I can't afford to throw lots at it and its because I have another car that I got this, if something breaks its no big deal. I will just maintain and repair it really. But eventually I want to do a manual conversion. It actually looks pretty straight forward for E39's and the trickiest part will be sourcing the parts.  I do need to replace some suspension arms or bushes because wow, she's a floaty old girl. She's also fantastically slow. Like really, really slow. When pulling back out on to the freeway on Sat after a quick pull over I needed to wait until no cars were visible before going.  Oh, and the guy I bought it from had a gorgeous R31 GTS-X in the garage.
    • Do you have a picture? I assume it is a breather for gearbox oil as it expands, it should have a vacuum line run nice and high in the engine bay (R32 GTR has it on a top bellhousing bolt)
    • Hi all, I am putting an r33 gtst gearbox into a VL and have noticed what looks like a vacuum barb on the box (on top in the middle). Suspecting that it's a vacuum line but I'd like to double check, if someone could confirm the function of that would be great. Cheers in advance.
