HailDamage
No oil reading and oil light flashing but has oil So I have a weird problem where I have oil did the change about 2-3 months ago and now the dipstick isnt giving any reading when cold after wiping off. And when its cold after starting the oil pressure light comes on for a moment and does it randomly while driving not too often though. I know it has oil in it as it not puddling but yeah its got leaks. I put in another liter after seeing the dip bare but made no difference. So now I am not sure how to proceed and its my daily only one. Ben C34
Put more oil in. Between the low and full mark is about a litre. How long have you had the car? 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/471389-no-oil-reading-and-oil-light-flashing-but-has-oil/#findComment-7841666 Share on other sites
tridentt150v
Do you know if you have a proper skyline dipstick? It hasn't been replaced?? Leave for an hour [for oil to settle] then top up to dipstick marks.... admS15
Put more oil in the motor as the others have suggested. Is more than likely your issue. HailDamage
I have put another 500ml in and the light still coming on and still low reading. I will keep going when rain pisses off. Had the car about 7 months always been funny with oil like heaps blow by and light coming on after oil changes etc. Has the no oil rattle when starting for a couple of seconds usually when cold. Ben C34
Actually just to complicated things for no reason. Drain the oil out and measure how much was in there. ..... 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/471389-no-oil-reading-and-oil-light-flashing-but-has-oil/#findComment-7841774 Share on other sites

Duncan
where are you putting the oil in? does it have an extended or factory sump? if you run the car after topping up the oil and then open the radiator cap do you have a milkshake? is there a huge pool of oil under your car? HailDamage
where are you putting the oil in? Into the oil fill port on the intake cam cover (making sure to be specific) does it have an extended or factory sump? Factory and i have AWD motor if makes any difference if you run the car after topping up the oil and then open the radiator cap do you have a milkshake? No it looks normal. is there a huge pool of oil under your car? No there is a leak somewhere but its definitely no putting anything on the ground. KiwiRS4T
Stop guessing. Like Ben said drain the sump and see how much comes out. If it is new oil you can put it back in but make sure you put 5.5 or so litres until you see it on the dip stick. You say you have lots of blow by - what does your exhaust look like? You may be burning heaps. Do a compression test. maybe your engine is stuffed. If its not now it soon will be if you keep driving it with no oil pressure. Ben C34
LOL. Actually, try dipping it in a oil container to see if oil sticks to it. It might just be magical. 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/471389-no-oil-reading-and-oil-light-flashing-but-has-oil/#findComment-7841999 Share on other sites
