iam getting insurnace for my 180sx in prob feb next year.

now i have been driviing for 1 year third parity and iam 50 50 driver.

and just cars wont put me on rating 5 the bastards.

but if you do have an accident what is the deal? does your rating drop down by 1 or does it go all the way back to 6?

if i was on rating 1 and had an accident and it was my fualt will it drop? and if it wasnt my fault what happends?

and also if you had insurance with another company like racv on your parents car . like one of you guys said. and then you have an accident with your car what happends

As far as I know:

1. If you have an accident and need to make a "claim", you lose your "no claim" bonus, I presume you go back to the worst rating

2. 3rd Party Comprehensive does NOT give you a no claim bonus.

Just Cars told me last week they don't acknowledge that you are on your parents policy. They said they don't, don't want to know, not counting for didly squat. So check which insurer you go through first before applying this idea.

I do know Suncorp will take it. But as my mother has sinced passed away, and there is not record of me being on this policy i got no chance.

While on hold with Just Car on the telephone they say that if you have have third party cover for the last 5/6 years, they will give you 60%NCB.

Suncorp is a more reputable company but once you are over 2 mods and are <25 ur insurance premium skyrockets.

Most young ppl i know are with Just Car, but i would like to know anyone who has had to claim with them. Good or bad. So if u can PM me of any experiences that would be great.

that is if you have had third party with them only i believe. i remember the hold messages. i've spent alot of time on hold with insurance companies

NIZ30 is right about Just Cars not accepting your NCB if you were a nominated driver. you need to have had cover under your name for them to acknowledge it. i tried this one too:(

Just Cars Insurance is operated by AAMI, so they are just as reliable as Suncorp. I am 22 and went through Just Cars to insure my R32 GT-R for $3200, i can do unlimited modifications to my car as long as 1. I tell them and 2. They are roadworthy. The next cheapest was AAMI itself for $4400....

I've just moved from canberra to sydney. Im with Suncorp. I told them of the change of address and my premium has almost doubled. man I thought Mosman would be low risk. Any way called up famous, there qoute was better than I had with suncorp in canberra.

Are these people reputable, saw there add in HPI. Or are they too good to be true???

    • Yes, but no. You need to keep the mating surfaces bare (ie the flat faces where the caliper and upright pads touch the dogbone) and also the internal threads will remain bare (unless there are no internal threads - do they use nuts on all the bolts?). So you can slow down obvious external corrosion, but not all of it. Anodising would be required to provide decent protection to the alloy, but I'm not actually sure if you should anodise something that is all about the strength. Anodising does reduce strength significantly. Like, up to 50% on some alloys for high thickness coating.
    • Thanks   does painting on aluminium work or stop them from corroding?
    • 'Sgot nothing to do with them being Japanese. The climate in the north of Japan has similarities to the UK - the cars are made in the knowledge that they have snow and salt, and they rot there. Cars made in the US rot like buggery in the US. British cars have always rotted regardless of the weather. They will rot indoors in a climate controlled bubble! The brackets are not unsafe yet, but they will get that way. They may well corrode where the bolt threads are in contact and the bolts could just jump out without warning.
    • So unsafe would you say now?   little bit of has come off, guess road salt is a nightmare for Japanese car. Mx5 here have a well known issue or rotting
    • Dissimilar metal corrosion. Aluminium is less noble than steel/iron, and will corrode preferentially when in contact with it and a conductive solution (ie, wet road salt). Tends to suggest that those brackets should be made in steel for a shitty climate like the UK.
