Outline For Skyline cruise on Sunday the 26th of September

11:00am

Meet at Coomera BP/Macdonalds

11:30am

Depart for Hinze Dam

12:00pm

Arrive at Hinze damn

Good chance for people to get some pics, have a chat etc.

12:30pm

Depart hinze dam and head south on M1 to coolongatta, then take a swift left onto the Gold Coast Highway and head north. Will be turning off the Gold Coast highway at Pacific Fair onto Hooker blvd/Nerang Broadbeach rd. From here go straight through to highway and head north on M1. Take the Brisbane rd/Helensvale south exit and head down Brisbane rd and continue on to the Spit where we will wrap things up.

If anyone dosent like this route or has any other ideas feel free to comment and we will change some things around to keep everyone happy.

Hoping for a Massive turnout

sounds pretty good but if you wana go to the hasle of going up gold coast hwy then we might aswell follow it all the way to southport and then head to the spit via mirina mirage exit off gc hwy, it will save doing the big arse detor, also wen u say follow the m1 south to collangatta, were abouts in coolangatta are we gona trun the whole show around? we could exit at currumbin or something, head to the beach, lap past it and continue up the gc hwy, it will keeep us away from the coolangata cop hassles and traffic a bit.

just a few suggestions, otherwise im in and very excited about the setup, well done:)

GOR33, thanks for your input. My reason for the big arse detour is because ithought most people wouldnt want to go through surfers on a sunday arvo because of police. I myself much prefer the idea of going straight through on the Gold Coast Highway but was thinking about what others would probably prefer. As for your idea to go through Currumbin , well i think its an awesome idea, for both the reasons your mentioned. I just dont know Currumbin too well so i just kept with the Coolie idea. But anyway i think the Currumbin idea is a goer. Will make sure I change that when i post up the final route. Keep your ideas comming

Another area you might want to consider is the car park meeting area at BP Coomera for departure, we usually meet in one of the two southern area carparks at the BP not out the front of McDonalds especially on a Sunday morning, there usually just isn't the room.

2 cents

yeh no matter were we go on the coast were gona get split up,everyone should just be aware of each meeting point and things should go smoothly, i know id rather miss the arse end of the group then end up in the back of a fellow skyliner, remeber erins massive cruise, that domino effect thing along smith street was a bit scary:(

as for the currumbin thing, ill mark out the route im thinking of on a map and show ya ok, see what u think.

Rodney the main reason the domino effect happens is that for some reason people seem to think that they need to blend into the middle of the pack instead of joining on the end.

For safety reasons people, please forget about your Ego (i.e "I have to be at the front of the pack") and join on the end so that there are no accidents. We will all get there in the end.

Quite simple really :)

as far as lights/gettin split up goes the only thing i can think of is if this did happen the people at the front could just pull over, for example, if we got split up along hooker blvd/nerang broadbeach rd we could just pull into the carrara stadium carpark and regroup. No ones wants this to be stop start but if we did get majorly split up, which shouldnt happen but if it did that would prob be the way to go? keep the ideas commin, then we will use them all to finalise a route

And as far as metting at bp/maccas goes i didnt mean right out the front of maccas, all up with the maccas parks, the area where the trucks park, around the back, and bp parks, theres should be more than enough i rekon?

Hello lovers of forced induction. and peace out to mr. j_isnoll. i have been waiting to go on a good cruise for a while. i am definitely going to come along. it sounds like there is gonna be a decent turn out. i think the skipping of McthecopsarewaitingformeDonalds is a good idea. as far as getting split up i think that a good idea is that we stick to a channel on the UHF's so if someone does get lost they can just buzz on the radio. plan for a good day.

and if anyone is coming from the redlands area and is a bit faint on where there going or whatever we could meet before and cruise to the starting point(coomera i think) from somewhere in the local area.

ps. yeah that is meant to be j_insoll in the last post. my bad.

    • You’ll want to have the block drilled and tapped to suit 1/2in head studs and the head for the same. How much power do you intend to make?
    • Sorry for resurrecting an oldish thread Not much has happened in the past year since the last update. The car did another 1000 miles or so and failed the MOT for the first time in October (failed on tyres which had been advised for a couple of years) In October the car got put up for sale and was removed in November due to no interest, being so close to christmas it was to be expected. The roads were dry in February so I decided to tax it early and get the new tyres fitted.   Fast forward to April, I got someone in to give the car a good clean after sitting for the winter.                                 The car got re-advertised and today (Saturday 3rd May) the car sold. The new owner is planning a GTR conversion at some point and a respray in the same pearl white. It's bitter sweet, it's a shame to have the car sit there for half the year and then only do 1000 miles. The kids are growing too quick and space in the back is getting limited. It's been a great 6.5 years of ownership
    • And if you want more power, more reliably, and cheaper, go get the Aussie RB... The 4L Barra and put that in instead.
    • No cats will keep discolouring the rear bar. Sends white paint a weird yellow stain. Cut and polish normally gets it out, but you'll be doing that every fortnight I found.
    • Both heads will be equally reliable or unreliable depending on what you do to them.  Stock the RB26 head will flow more. You have access to the stock intake ITB manifold on the RB26 cheaply which flows really well(1000hp+).   Arguably more aftermarket support for RB26, though in Aus we love our RB30 SOHC heads too.    The only downsides to the RB26 head is if you have a VL commodore and want to keep the SOHC look.  Where you may have an issue is drilling out the rb30 block for the bigger head studs but if you are building a big power motor you'd probably put bigger studs on the SOHC head too.  This is just about finding a good machine shop, sometimes easier said than done.  RB30 head worked can make big power just like a Rb26 head, so really it actually more comes down to what your preference is for your car.  People now even making billet versions of both.
