Inlet plenum -gasket, glue or both?

Hi all, replacing my Inlet plenum and found that my old one was held on with gasket sealant only.

I have a factory gasket but I was gonna just use sealant only again as my old one never leaked but thought I'd ask here. As I'm worried about sealant being squeezed into the Inlet ports when I do it up.

 

What do you guys do?

One of them for an rb25 head and no sealant hey piggaz?

New gasket on a clean prepped surface, no sealant. Gasket is metal, pretty hardy when new.

MLS or tomei then. Stock gasket is just paper. Presume that's why they used sealant?

I use  a lite smear of loctite 515 . With or without a paper gasket. It works great.

definitely get something better than the stock gasket. tomei, hks, nitto whatever.

a gasket dressing is probably not compulsory but couldnt hurt.

Thanks lads. Looks like cometic are the easiest to get hold of at a good price on an mls. Thoughts?
Then I'll just put a smear of sealer round the water ports only.

Thats interesting! When i pulled apart mine they def nissan paper gaskets

Oem and many aftermarket manufacturers use paper gaskets. You generally have to pay a premium for multi layered steel gaskets. Piggaz is on the money. Buy the tomei set and be done with it

The OEM gasket on my RB25DET was metal, the replacement I got in the OEM Nissan gasket kit was also metal.

Can always spray abit of holymer on the gaskets before install

On RB20/25 the gasket between the two inlet plenum halves is metal but between the plenum and the head is paper iirc

Wrong way round. More of a rubber seal between the two halves and metal between the head and manifold

The NA gaskets are paper or similar

I used copper spray and have no leaks, make sure the halves are not warped.
