Hey guys, thinking about buying this car- https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-view-details.html?adId=1161205104

I need your thoughts on it,  I have been surfing this forum and most of the v35 threads are 7 years old. So looking at the 2003 Nissan Skyline v35 do you think it is worth buying this vehicle. If so why? I need to know what is the petrol tank capacity, what octane fuel to put in and how long will the car last with urban driving on a single tank. Also I need to know if the car is expensive too maintain seeing that it is 14 years old. What i mean by this is that is it expensive to service, fix broken parts etc etc. I also need to know if it is worth selling my 2010 Subaru Impreza RS Hatch 5sp manual to buy this car?!?!?? PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Hmmm, so there has been >700 views of that car, IMO it looks ok,  black roof (?), and yet it is still on the market? They haven't owned it for long either, perhaps mum is arcing up? I own the same model and have had it for the last 4 yrs. I am getting a bit ancient in the scheme of things, and feel fortunate that although I have owned and driven numerous different vehicles  over a long period, this has given me the opportunity to drive something I consider decent.  This being especially so, considering the price range it can be purchased in.

I run the car on 98 octane, seems that is what is advised. The fuel tank is not large, only 60  - 70 (?) litres. Depends where and how you drive the car as to how much fuel is used. I only do trips in my car and consider it to be very fuel efficient.

Parts ? Yeah, so these are grey imports. If you need panels, that could be an issue if cost was a concern. There are likely a few appearing in wreckers yards these days. Think there is a thread that lists all the common bits between other similar cars - 350z and maxima. I  am concerned what I might find if and when I need a replacement windscreen. I do my own servicing, so no issues there. Is a great motor, pulls well,  and strong trans.

How well this particular car stacks up, is for you to decide.  If it be sound and genuine,  and you want that style of car, it would be hard to do better.

Why do we need to convince you to buy a new car?
Why do we need to convince you to sell your current car?

I think you need to write down a list of things you are using your car for, then compare information (from google) on each car. THEN Google SAU threads about the V35's parts availability and maintenance requirements. Most threads are 7 years old because the information is usually still relevant.

    • See, that button sounds like perfection Duncan! My eyes really don't like light shining at them from a dash when I'm driving. Being part red colourblind, I've found for most cars that I can change colours on, I set everything to red, so my eyes see the elast amount of colour! I miss normal gauges in cars
    • bro, knowing the Japanese in  the 90's, i wouldn't be surprised if they shared components across their model lineup.
    • Maaaan so many "little" things  i rly hope my old RB20 would be "ok" and not too bad. I try to learn what and what not do i need. I look at crossmember at it looks different...even parts numbers are different. Wiring and all that i rly do not know...yeah someone mentioned the speedo thing. On that yoke clip. I rly do not know what can and cant be done "custom" so that is why iam asking to know and not be suprised 🙂  I know what it looks like
    • Oh, there's also the gearbox crossmember which will probably be different between the small box and the big box, and the wiring loom will probably need to be modified, because the plugs for the switches etc, will probably be different. And I think the speedo on the small box R34s is from somwhere stupid, like the diff, possibly, so you'd need to work out what needs to be done about that (assuming it is different). I think the thing you need to realise is that the front end of that yoke is a large hollow tube with splines on the inside that mates with the splines on the box's output shaft. It is a dedicated thing - not available "aftermarket". They were made to suit that box, by the car's OEM.
