Hey guys,

So the other day i got new wheels put onto my car, this afternoon i went to change the height of my suspension as my wheels were scrubbing a little bit, noticed that my wheel nuts were rather tight, ended up using a torque wrench to undo, to find how tight they were. they finally let loose at 160lbs.

would the bolts still be okay ? or should i be looking at getting new ones as 160lbs to do them up seems like a massive amount.

Just examine them visually for distorted threads and if they look ok just torque them up to the correct figure. I assume you have steel wheel nuts - if they are aluminium throw them away.

Typical tyre shop, throw the wheels on and gun tight it. Who gives a shit about using the correct torque.

At least your car isn't a Subaru, I had to replace one stud per hub on my Liberty.

Yeah that is what had me a bit worried, my old man had the same happen to him and his broke on his Subaru at that torque.
