So the question I want to ask is who here runs a GTS-R manifold on a RB25 ? What turbo do you run, supporting mods ?

I have a GTS-R manifold thinking about putting it on my R34 Neo RB25.

I know its a big investment for not so much gains ( could be spent elsewhere ) but I just love the sound.

Hey mate,

The simplest way would be to source the standard T04 used on the GTS-R and the intercooler piping.  Although the turbo is a laggy old-school design, it will be a bit less laggy on an RB25.  If you are to go down the aftermarket turbo route, you will need to fabricate lots of stuff.  The manifold places the turbo on an odd angle, so both the intake and exhaust pipings will need to be fabricated, and probably changes to the water and oil feeds.  The compressor housing will need to be rotated.  Not trying to put you off, just show it isn't the simplest of jobs.

I put an aftermarket turbo on my GTS-R and had to get all the fab work done.

As far as sound goes, I found that the manifold didn't howl as much as first thought, but once I dropped some Tomei poncams in it, it wailed like a banshee.  Having said that, I have been in cars with cams and 6boost manifolds and the sound is very similar.

Thanks for your reply datberger......

Do you have any pictures of your fab ?

I also have an aftermarket dump pipe (short) to suit.

I measured the turbo side mounting plate on the manifold from what I have its a T3 which I though was different from the T04 ?

What aftermarket turbo did you run ?

Cheers.

Hey mate,

I'll try to dig up some photos of the fab work for you.  I put on a Garrett GT 2860R, basically the disco potato turbo that the silvia guys use, but with a T3 .63 exhaust housing.  It is good for about 300whp.  Too small for an RB25, but comes on boost about a 1000rpm earlier than the stock T04e on my RB20.

And yes, it is a T3 mounting plate on the manifold, as the stock GTS-R exhaust housing has a T3 exhaust housing mount.

    • Thanks for reaching out!  It's a blessing and a curse at the same time.  I'm undiagnosed but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see it in me... I have more half started projects laying around my house, shed, garden, etc taking up space and money, destroying aesthetics than if I added up all of my mates projects together. But, ADHD gives me the ability to hyper focus on things that no mere mortal could even  comprehend.  A recent pool build is an example of that....  I dont know anyone else that would be dumb enough and focused enough to take on then complete something of that magnitude. I call ADHD a superpower but it can equally be completely destructive if not controlled and focusedon the right places. Addiction is a major concern to ADHD people and thankfully my addictions have been no worse than projects, XBOX, chocolate and being an arsehole! It's often hereditary and my 13 year old son is currently learning how to drive it at the moment. Keep lurking! If i can finally finish this bloody thing at some point it will be a win for all of us ADHD'ers! 🤪
    • I've been quietly following this thread for ages, but this one got me. Since my ADHD diagnosis (and associated learnings and prescription) I'm way less inclined to wade into forum yarns when there are better things to do with my time, as half the time I'd end up in some kind of forum debate even if that wasn't my intention. I've not lost the ADHD "superpowers", just am a lot better at directing my hyperfocus into slightly more constructive things, but haven't stopped quietly lurking in here in my spare time.
    • Stripped the tank down and gave it a good scrub. It came up really good! Not sure if I'll just put it back in like that or give it a blackening treatment (such as Bowdens The Black Box). That might give it a matte look so might just run it as is.
    • @MBS206 Ha ha, yeah ADHD is a daily battle to not get drawn in to doing things you want to do that you know you shouldn't do!  Every single time I walk into my shed I end up doing something I started the day having zero intention of doing! I keep mentioning the 1 step forward, 3 steps back scenario and I'm tipping people that are blessed with ADHD (yes, blessed) are the worst at that!
    • We import a lot of cars from Japan. I'd say that approximately 20% of our traffic is imported JDM cars (mainly consumer cars like the Mazda Demio, Toyota Yaris, Honda Fit, Suzuki Swift, etc.). We also import a lot from the UK, but this has decreased after Brexit. Apart from the consumer vehicles, two of the larger, well-known dealerships frequently import iconic '80s/'90s JDM cars. I haven't heard of anyone importing from Australia, and they are not advertised (unlike Japanese ones), despite a lot of Maltese migrating to Australia in the '50s and '60s.
