Hi all, recently got a new set of wheels for my r33, 18x8.0+30 for the front and 18x9.5+35 for the rears, when shopping around these are the exact sizes two places recommend me for wheels also recommending 265s on the back, but after sorting a set of wheels with 265s for the rear and taking them to get fitted, the guy there says he won’t be able to fit them there too big, after putting them on they do seem to be rubbing the gaurd while stationary, but he says even raising it and rolling the guards it won’t fit, I was wondering how I would be able to get them too fit as these where the tyres recommended too me and after looking online a lot of people have been able to fit 265s and bigger on an r33

It's all about the offset.  You can buy spacers to push wheels further out, but you can't buy unspacers to bring them further in.  If the tyres are rubbing on the outer guard, then you're shit out of luck.  Different wheels required.

You do realise that there's a whole thread devoted to what wheel and tyre combos fit on Skylines at the top of this very forum, yes?  Read, see what works.

The only way to get more clearance is to run more negative camber on the rear. I would roll the guards first and then dial in neg camber until they clear. You'll most probably need rear upper camber arms too. Neg camber will also create uneven tyre wear.

Put up a pic of how it's sitting, so we can see how bad it is.

Ultimately as said above a different rim will fix your issue but i would have thought that combo would clear. I run an 18 x 9 +22, this would sit almost the same as yours in relation to the outer edge and i fit 265 under rolled guards ok. On the latest set i put on (AD08R), they run a bit wider. I had to increase neg camber to -2 deg.

Incorrect (excessive) camber will result in poor traction and handling, and silly tyre wear.  Suggest about -0.5 to -.0.75 is where the aimpoint should be.

Another clearance fix is to get handy with angle grinder, tin snips, hammer, and welder.  Cut the guards, install flares.  Instant clearance.  And depending on your viewpoint, they look good too.

Unfortunately don’t have any pics of the fitment but it’s pretty close to flush. What sort of ride height are you at because mine is quiet low, I suggested raising it up a bit and then cambering the rears but he’s still under the impression that it’ll hit badly and probably damage the fenders

Mine isn't very low, around 330mm from rim centre to bottom of wheel arch.

Since you already have the wheels and tyres, get the guards rolled and take it from there.

Another option would be to go to a smaller tyre, say a 245. It's not something i would really recommend but if you can't make them fit, its an option.

Depending on the rims, you also have the option to get the hub mating surface machined. There are businesses who specialise in rim repairs, who can do this for you. There is a minimum thickness they will machine to, so the rims may or may not be suitable. I had 4mm removed from 2 front BMW rims recently to fix a rubbing issue - cost was around $80 per rim.

I think the offset you needed on the back was +32. I have the same size wheels with 265's on mine and fit fine. I rolled my guards because i had to do the fronts anyway and have normal camber rates

Trying to share photo but I cant on my phone for some reason

You could always stretch smaller tyres on?
