Hey Matt how did you pull up, I was there again with the girls this time on Sun night. Also the crowd was like 95% women 5% guys :P

Ohh u Bitch!! why didnt u SMS me? U wanted the girls to yourself hey.. lol... I was soo wrecked on Sunday morning. oh well at least I got the brunette bar girl's number  hahaha

meh anyone who needs 4wd on the track is cheating

Sounds like you guys had a fun day out!

Dox, don't worry about lack of experience, I'll guarantee everyone in this thread was a track n00b some time, just get out there, ask lots of questions, and give it a go.

Snowman, how's things looking for Dutton this week? Got thru scruitineering OK?

Yeah Duncan - scruitineering was no problems (other than I forgot my CAMS license - oops)

Looking forwards to it big time now. Was happy with the Jackets and stuff - not so happy with the Porsche stickers they expect me to put on my car.

Also got the event manual so have a better idea what all the events entail now. They look like a lot of fun. Although the GTR is suddenly feeling very heavy after seeing some of the motokana's! LOL

hahaha good old porsche stickers, we "accidently" put ours right under the rear bumper behind the back wheels

Don't worry too much about the motorkhanas, they are *very* open, we noticed this year there was heaps more space than last year's ones....all the porsche drivers must have complained.

And speaking of Porsche drivers, watch out for them in the queues, they push in all the time because they are more important than jp cars....don't take any sh1t from them

How many were in you comp mate? I have bloody 27 of the bastards (field of 88 now). You'd think that would be enough coverage for them without me having to stick damn porsche stickers on my car.

Motokana's will be fun. We are thinking of putting a torque splitter in and going RWD for some just for fun!

there was only 14 in NSW, about 20 ppl if you include co-drivers, but most porsche drivers don't have a friend to co drive with anyway......

Torque Split Controller would be great if you have one, we had a few wet events where cranking up front torque would have helped heaps. As for the khanas and RWD......well, if you've seen the video....really kills good tyres though, ours didn't really last the event, they only made it about half way thru day 2.....

Interesting - we have 27 porka's entered - 16 are co-driver - 11 driver only. But some of the co-drivers are PAID Im sure. haha.

We were thinking of just going RWD on a couple of the tighter kana's. Plus we can rotate our wheels front to rear as they are identical to help ease the tyre load. We are still deciding however - have been told we will get better results if we just go smooth and easy rather than thrash the crap out of the car - and let the porkas make the mistakes and hit the hats etc.

I think we'll just make it up as we go along anyways. haha. Afterall my level of motokana experience = 0. Which is the same as my level of drag experience. And both of them are just below my level of track experience so this weekend is really about a good time!

    • Hi Yes we're a bit optimistic we might get something out of sealing up the two pipes of the external wastegate and reactivating the stock one. I believe the orginal stock wastegate was tack welded shut. It doesn't budge and visually looks closed and sealed. The car has noticeably more lag so it could be at least part of the problem, maybe all. It's definately one of the key changes made since last tune. And it's one that's more difficult to fully understand and measure, not like for instance timing or cylinder compression.  Thanks for that feedback, we'll let you know how this progresses. Fingers crossed.   Regards Rob
    • Transplanting the vvt from a 25neo into an rb26?
    • Well, I was going to say, "Is the wastegate set up so that it is not leaking?" That's actually a different thing to what you're asking about. In theory, if you have allowed the two halves of the manifold to commmunicate (more than the stock manifold does - which is at least a little bit) then the negative effect should be apparent in delayed spool, not in outrigth power. OK, maybe just maybe, a badly set up twin scroll wastegate "crosstalk" might kill the top end, although it's hard to see how. What is happening with the original wastegate in the turbo? is it sealed off properly. If it's left flapping in the breeze, it will f**k everything up. If it is still there, and can be returned to service, I'd be capping off the external (presuming the two halves can and will be isolated from each other after doing so) and have a go with just the stock wastegate. I have an internal wastegate in my highflowed rear housing. The bigger opening and flapper should be fine to >250 rwkW. So there's not exactly a pressing reason to have the external. Done right, an external will give better results. Done wrong, it might just be possible to have worse results. Report back!
    • Hi Rob It's a nistune ecu. Yes same shop, good reputation. Apparently the computer on the dyno is compensated for temperature.    Chris was saying that the lean or richness of the mixture would be covered in the actual tune, but he's already picking up in advance that it's under what it should be. Regards the dyno, it's also noticeable on the road. But I just want to add something that has just come in, it appears there might be something in the setup of the external wastegate. In the exhaust manifold there is a centre divider between the front three and rear three cylinders. The external wastegate has a pipe from each side that join at the wastegate. Theory is those two pipes just might be pypassing that divider and introducing a problem somehow. Is anyone familiar with the divider in the exhaust manifold and the effects if the two wastegate pipes were to create a bypass path? Thanks for your questions Rob, interested in your thoughts on this external wastegate bypass theory. Regards Rob
