What are you comparing the RB20 woth when you say more punchy/torquey. SR20?

You dont need to stroke it to go 2.2L, just overbore the engine, which means a lot of labour and new pistons so expensive if all your looking for is more torque.

If you want torque then a 2L turbo engine in a 1350kg car is perhaps not the right car to start with. That said you can do things like breathing mods, cam gears etc etc that all helps torque, or you can change the diff ratio to make the thing more punchy, but at the end if the day its a 2L engine...modern cars and technology sometimes spoil us rotten and we forget that we cant have everything.

But a good place to start is full exhaust, good filter and intake, cam gears apparantly work well, if you need a new clutch then only get as big as you need and go for a lightened flywheel at the same time, and throw a shorter diff ratio at it and lern to use those 7,500revs, and stay away from 18" chrome wheels.

Im probably wrong but thats the way i look at it

What are a few things that can be done to make the rb20det a bit more responsive. and have a bit more torque?  Like the sr20det...

How much would it cost all up to have it stroked to 2.2 or 2.3 ltr?  Would this be a good idea?

What mods do you have? If its relatively stock I'd try an ECU + dyno tune and a lighter flywheel.

well my 1st car was an r32gts4 and i wasnt too happy with power until about 3800rpm.

I then bought a 180sx.. it felt nicer at low rpm.. but for some reason i like the r32 so much more.. so ive sold the 180sx and now looking for a clean r32 again..

I want it set up for drift as much as possible which is why i want a more responsive engine...

I would love an rb25det r32 if anybody knows of one!

rb25 definitely.. if you can afford it..

i am "downgrading" to an rb20det for a while until i go for a monster engine. Will be interesting to feel the difference.

Have been in a couple of r32, and more nothing, then on.. rb25det is much nicer..

some of the better rb20det turbos are meant to spool up a bit lower and give much nicer response down low.. HKS2530 and things like that. You could research into those a bit more.

hi there,

there's a guy selling what seems to be a very nice R32 GTS-T with nice bits and pieces on it, so if you're interested, check this out;
