Speed warning - How do you get rid of it?

I've had my R32 for nearly 2 years. About 2 months a friend noticed a chiming sound when i was driving on the freeway. I've never noticed this before (whos the d!#$head :Oops: ) I gather its a speed warning and its really starting to give me the shits...REALLY. Anyone know how to get rid of it?

I thought only ceffies came with the warning chime?

my friends dads Supra has it and his RX7 as well...he was told its factory fitted and chimes at 110Km/hr

Getting rid of the ding-dong torture device

Sounds horrible doesn't it? Remove the plastic panels under the driver's side dash. Drop the steering column (using the height/reach adjustment), remove the instrument cluster. The small aluminium box on a bracket behind the cluster is the noise-maker. Disconnect the spade terminal, and remove the ding-dong box.

Be very careful with the speedometer cable where it goes into the back of the speedo. The plastic sleeve is very prone to cracking, causing the speedo to stop working. It can be fixed with some heat shrink tubing, or at a pinch with some PVC electrical tape.

most jap cars have these 110km/h chimes, but i've never seen it on a skyline.

Once i drove a jap truck from queensland to vic and that thing pissed me off I had to remove the fuse for the dash to get rid of it.
