Hey Guys,

I just bought a 1989 240SX (Silvia) w/ RB20DET swap for my little brother. I also own a RB26DETT S14, that maybe some of you have seen. www.underground-motorsports.com

These are the current mods listed above, but I am hoping to take his car to about 250rwkw, which I have been told is the max at a stock engine.

We don't have any way to get cams, etc here. So, I'd like to push the internals as much as possible, without blowing them.

I am working with Innovative Turbo on this car here in the States. They sponsored my RB26 S14, and have recommended this turbo, http://innovativeturbo.com/cgi-bin/htmlos....121082412330414

However, they are going to be building it with a .63 a/r and 360 degree thrust bearings.

Could you guys give me an idea on your recommended upgrade path?

What sort of times would you guess with these mods?

Also, what ECU would you recommend? I've seen Microtech, but I have got varied reviews.

I have the GTR Cams and Injectors out of my RB26 Silvia. I will just use those. I didn't realize they swapped out.

I have a Walbro 255/lph with Nismo Fuel Pressure Regulator.

I notice alot of people simply using the SAFC, is this enough? Or Maybe Greddy Emanage?

Why are you getting/letting Innovative to give you a PLAIN BEARING turbo? Shoot, I'd get into their titanium compressor, dual ceramic ball bearing range :aroused:

As for what to do, here is my most used list for a 225rwkw (400 bhp) RB20DET;

* Power FC with Boost Control Kit & Commander

* Split dump with mandrel 3.5" exhaust & hi flow cat

* GCG ball bearing hi flow RB25DET turbo

* Mazda RX7 Sereis V Turbo 550 cc injectors

* R32/33 GTR cams and valve springs

* adj camshaft pulleys

* Z32 AFM

* Pipercross POD filter with heat shielding

* Upgrade the ambient air feed substantially

* Standard R33/34 GTR intercooler

* 63 mm pipework from the turbo to the intercooler

* 75 mm pipework from the intercooler to the throttle body

* 85 mm aluminium pipework with silicone pipe adaptors from the turbo to the AFM (the standard rubber keeps getting sucked closed)

* OS Giken twin plate clutch

* Electric fan (remove the standard fan)

You will notice it does not have a thick head gasket, I personally don't believe in them at all and at that power level are not necessary anyway. If you want a bit more average power then o'ring the head, use a standard head gasket, port it and polish the combustion chambers. Being a hi flow of the standard dimensioned turbo, all the water, oil and air pipework will fit back up as per standard.

In a 1245 kg R32 GTST, it ran a high 11 on Goodyear slicks at 121 mph at a lousy track.

Can you confirm that the GTR springs work in the RB20. The hassle of doing springs with the head on and a suspicion that the sring rate could be different between RB26 solids and RB20 hydraulic meant i didnt bother. Dont you get away with running softer spring rates in solid lifter engines as the valvegear is lighter then hydraulic valvegear, and in an ideal world arent you loking to run as soft a spring as possible? Or is that more theory that doesnt translate to practice :Oops:

LOL i would have surely butchered my car if i tried to do the springs as well. (My cams are going off to a machine shop on Friday to check if they are wraped/bent?!?!?)

And do you run the elctric fan with std radiator, any coolign probs, i badly want to hoy the std viscous fan but have been told repeatedly to stick with the std Nissan fan :(
