Hello.

i have a r32 gtr, and a have some little misfire in high rev.  I want to buy splitfire ignition system + do luck harness.

But i have a simple question for australian people, because in France, i have not a clear answer :

if i install a r34 ignition system, can i remove the ampli (power transistor) ?

thanks.

(I'll do a quick research, but hard to find answer with my limited english)

Yes, you can change from dumb coils that need the ignitor box to coils that each have an ignitor built in.  You will obviously need the appropriate harness, and you will still have to adapt it to the R32 harness, because the power and the triggering wiring are all based around the ignitor.  The new coilpack harness will not simply connect to the old body-side ignition harness and just work.

Thanks for Quick answer.

Is the r34 coil have an ignitor built in ?

for the harness, i simply think to buy the r34 do luck harness, replace and wiring the r34 connector with r32 connector, and remove my ignitor box (ampli). Is there something that i forget ? Is it more complicated than that ?

I may have to do a quick back-pedal here.  I was allowing what I know to be true for the differences between R32 (RB20) and R34 (RB25Neo) coils to pollute my thinking on the RB26 coils.  I put my hand up and declare that I do not know for sure what the situation is with R34 26 coils/igniters.  But if there is no change (ie, they still use an external igniter) then, no, you can't throw the igniter away.  If they did switch to internal igniters, then my first post is correct.

I thought you were trying to get rid of the Ignitor?

sure.

That's why i want to install R34 coils. A friend with a BNR34 confirms me he have not ignitor in his engine bay with oem coils.

It appears that the Splitfire DIS5 that suit Neo RB25s are also claimed to be correct for R34 RB26s.

That would make more sense than Nissan just sticking with the shitty old coils they used on the 32 & 33 GTRs, which were the same as the RB20s.

Bnr 34 coils have inbuilt ignitor and mount the same as r32/r33 coils ie the 2x 3 aluminum x shape brackets, they aren't the same as r34 neo coils mounting wise.

The bnr34 coils use the same plug/wiring sequence as r35/vq coils.

I've fitted neo coils to a vh45 eliminating the ignitor from each bank. Was pretty straight forward, I changed the pin location on back of plugs and added a +ve to each or from memory. Was a while ago.

Thanks mates.

@Anonymouse : thanks for the link. But someone said me r35 coils need to remap the rb.

@Griffin & @GTSBoy : thank you. So, i will buy the splitfire bnr34 coils, with the doluck r34 harness. I'll let you know in a few weeks.

I found these on ebay and was thinking òf using this rather than relying on the igniter. What do you think GTS BOY?? Also will I need to return after I install??Screenshot_20200405-095623_eBay.thumb.jpg.b9e69862e9b0ba1be50def31920cc6f4.jpg

The Kudos motorsport kit is the go for what you're talking about without going the R35 coils. As mentioned retune not required, although if you have the ability in your ecu there is a slight reduction in dwell time compared to the 32/33 gtr coils. Would probably ok not to adjust but they are different FYI. Also as mentioned that wiring specialties coil harness also suits the R35 coils if the 34s don't have enough punch for you.

That's my 1993 r33r impul, with 2.6 conversion and pushing well over 500hp. I know the igniter will fail again sooner or later so I will go ahead in the very near future with the igniter coil packs. Also I would like to change the pulley to a serpentine set up. Anyone done that and got any idea if there's a kit available?? I also need to chase up a heat shield for the air filter, if i could get cooler air in should help performance too surely??received_733672663834867.thumb.jpeg.a992d2ed1801b52ffcbbf23d5f6558c9.jpegResized_20161015_085040001_3771_1572238889372.thumb.jpeg.483614ec96a48f0864faebc834ac1a31.jpeg

Also can you buy a pinion/ driveshaft bearing and seal kit for my abs locker diff r33??

Cheers for your advice and I think it will be a more reliable system. Whenever the engine sounds not quite right I always think not another igniter! I was lucky last time just a fouled plug!!!
