r33 Buying an R33 skyline RB20

Hey i’m looking to buy a skyline this week and i need your opinions on whether or not it will be a decent buy 

it has a broken speedo

heavy steering (problem with the power steering may just need fluid) 

 

and a a squealing sound on the start up of the car 

all in all i got the guy down to $2000

If you are happy with a slow car that looks a bit crap then go for it.

Have you driven it? You'll literally get beaten by stock i30's it is going to be slow.

New belts, possibly new PS pump, new speedo. Budget a couple hundred to get it back in shape..

I reckon its awesome for $2k.

Hopefully body, suspension and structure is ok, then you can save to drop an RB25 or RB26 into it later.

$2k for a half running R33 could be a good project, provided it's not a rusted bomb.

Check it for terminal rust on the chassis.

I drove one of those RB20E R33s.  I got out and walked.  Was faster.  f**k they are a terrible idea.  Stupid Japanese rego rules.

Buy it anyways, 2k is a good deal for a running skyline. It would be a fairly reliable car since its NA but an econobox from 2010+ will be faster, more efficient, etc.
