Hi all

Can someone shed some light on why people converting an RB26 from twins to a single tend to lean towards the Garrett GTX range instead of the Garrett GTW range?

There is hardly any reviews on the GTW series because on one seems to use them...

They certainly seem to have the goods :)

So why? [emoji848]

The GTW range is the budget performance series, they are effectively revamped Garrett T-series turbos with "GTW" compressor wheels replacing the old compressors.  They go well enough but are pretty much Garretts equivalent to the Precision and FP turbos which were available 8 years ago.

Its all the unforseen stuff. Ceramic coating, underestimating the cost of lines/fittings/heat proofing shit. V band here and there, adds up lol i had to pay retail for my fab work. I dont weld. I got a good deal but thats the only labour i paid for.

Fair enough! Like most things you jump into it and realise there’s more too it lol
I said to my tuner I’m looking at a budget single turbo conversion, all he said was
“Remove the word budget and re send message”
Hahaha
I got the hint lol
