LiamHovey
Hi everyone. I know there's a thread for speedo cable problems for the 32. But I removed the cluster to take a globe out. Then replaced the cluster and speedo was inop. Cable has been previously replaced under 500km ago. I've also put the globe back in and tested and it's still not working. I pulled the cluster out and drove the car a little and the cable still spins inside its sleeve. Many ideas? Cheers Edited May 12, 2018 by LiamHovey Update info Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/474009-r32-speedo-inop-not-cable/ Share on other sites
GTSBoy
It's easy to break the little plastic square end on the drive cable or the receptacle for same in the speedo. Have a close look at both and see which one you broke. GTSBoy
It should be the same shape as the end of the cable (ie, both square). If one is broken, then you have square plug in round hole, or vice versa. LiamHovey
Yeah okay they are both square man. I'm kinda thinking its just not aligned properly but I've tried to refit it about 5 times Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/474009-r32-speedo-inop-not-cable/#findComment-7875423 Share on other sites
GTSBoy
You can also damage it so that it won't "clip in". Put the car up on stands, run it in gear and see if the speedo works with you pushing the cable into the back of the speedo head manually. LiamHovey
Okay will give it a go. If that is the case. What's the fix? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/474009-r32-speedo-inop-not-cable/#findComment-7875436 Share on other sites
GTSBoy
Replace the broken bit, probably. Gauge head or cable. I had to put a new cable in mine because the top end broke.
