Hello all,

If anyone was following my previous build thread I had an R34 GTT [FR34K] that I wrote off. I decided it was probably my only chance to get into the GTR scene.

After searching for a while I found a member on here selling a beautiful white R33 GTR V-spec with an N1 engine.

My goals for this car are just to be a weekend cruiser, occasionally heading down to the drags to see what it can do. If I could run a 10 second pass on the H pattern gearbox I would be exstatic, and I think somewhere in the vicinity of 800awhp would be more than enough as a max power figure.

Car already has -7 turbos, poncams and a power FC with supporting mods, making a respectable 420awhp. It has HKS coilovers, Project mu rotors and gold BBS rims, with a lovely Jun style carbon lip.

Immediate thoughts of this car (coming from a 485whp GTT) are: it's really fast. The GT35R on my R34, although made nice power, was quite laggy in comparison to the -7s. They feel like they have no lag, and the car doesn't have any problems whatsoever putting the power to the ground. I find myself looking down at the speedo after planting my foot and being blown away about how fast I'm going. The gear ratios help play a part in that as well, although aggressive, are still fantastic when just cruising. The suspension is very stiff - too stiff for me (it's something I will be changing very soon) but it handles superbly.

After landing in WA, I took the car to a licencing centre to get it inspected. The list consisted of some minor things like globes and removing of tint. Nothing major - the hardest thing was child restraints which I borrowed out of a wrecked r33.

Yesterday I passed my final inspection and picked up my custom plates.

First mod - always wheels and lower.

Dropped the car from 4x4 spec down to a reasonable level. In my above post I was talking about how rough the ride was.. After dropping the coils, the car feels completely different. There was an adjustment screw on the hats in the ebay that I loosened off and it helped immensely.

Car is now sitting on Work Emotion CR2Ps 18x10+5 wrapped in Yokohama Advan Neova AD08Rs 265/35. Can't wait to drive in the dry and see how it hooks up.

Pretty eventful week. Did a service on the car myself, just an oil change. When I went to pull the filter off it grabbed the adapter for the sandwich plate and pulled the entire thing off. Was a lot of fun trying to put that back on considering the spot it was in, couldn't see a thing and managed to fumble my way through it. Also, like a complete moron, didn't put the drip tray close enough to the bung on the oil pan and spilled over a litre of dirty oil on my garage floor LOL. Won't make that mistake again.

Also had my air con tensioner sound like the bearing was playing up, making a whirring noise. Let go the other day when I was 45 minutes from home, completely destroyed the bearings, and was lucky I didn't throw the belt and cause more damage.

Got my diffuser, pods and skirt extensions put on today, I reckon it looks tough as. Apparently fitment was pretty good.

Only problem is now that the rear end of the car is low. Really low.

All fun and games right?

I personal had the TS rear diffusers and front canards and eventually sold both as they’re just not practical for everyday use.

The car is looking really good and is tough as nails. Only thing is it needs those front “nostrils” that R33 GTRs are known for.

The car isn't an everyday drive, but I can completely agree with it being impracticable. The rear of the car is just as low as the front, I need to be super careful where and when I choose to drive it now.

I actually (at the moment) prefer it with the current bumper, without the intercooler ducts. I think it gives the front end a sleeker look.

Hey mate, yeah the rear diffuser is nice and would probably at some performance gains at high speeds but unless you're driving on straight roads any type of elevation would cause issues.

The R33 in my opinion needs those intercooler "nostril" ducts which is a signature look for the R33 and without it looks kinda odd but each to their own nothing wrong with having your own flavour (see below).

Bought a R34 GTR steering wheel, was sick of the standard S1 wheel - actually so ugly. Airbag light is on, but apparently can be fixed with a 2.7ohm resistor. Will get onto that soon.

Installed my garage defend style carbon cooling panel from carbonetics. FItment was OK - holes for radiator brackets needed to be drilled out slightly.

Car is booked in on Wednesday for E85 conversion! Haltech Elite 2500 ecu, walbro 460 going in the tank, Bosch 1650cc injectors and re-using my FPR2000, ethanol content sensor and boost solenoid. Going to give the car a birthday while it is at the shop, make sure everything is looked at and fixed, not that there is much wrong though.

A N1 front bonnet lip to finish it off?

I think I am happy with the way the car looks for now. I am going to get some new rims which is next on the shopping list. I can't decide between LMGT4s or TE37s.

In the future I will go for a carbon bonnet (painted white), I think I will go Top Secret but I have also always had a soft spot for the Nismo one (unsure of the specific type, but in R34s it's the Ztune style) .

Hey mate, good to see you’re going with what you want. In terms of rims hard decision as I love both but ended up with TE37sl’s for my GTR but the new LMGT3’s are great too!

Yep, Ztune vented bonnet would finish it nicely.

So bit of an update. Car is still in the workshop. They have been battling with a fuelling issue for a few weeks where once the car was on the dyno for a while, the afrs would lean out. They pretty much replaced every component of the fuel system, even putting the power fc back in to see if it was the ecu somehow. Anyway, turns out the fuel was getting too hot, but still unsure how. The exhaust didn't have a heat shield and they think that the heat is soaking into the tank. Apparently Bosch 1650s are sensitive to hot fuel.

They have wrapped and shielded the exhaust off, and a fuel temp sender is on the way for the haltech. Fingers crossed it'll be ready soon. Little bit of good news is that it apparently made over 500rwhp on e85.

Yay for good news. Car is safe at home now. I am very happy to have her tucked away in the garage again.

The issue ended up being, as mentioned above, the 1650 Bosch injectors. They did replace them with another brand new set, but being the product itself, didn't help it. They ended up throwing in 1250s and never had an issue again.

I will drive her as much as I can this break to empty out the fuel tank, so I can have a full tank of e85. Can't wait to feel the power. ?

During the time on the dyno (troubleshooting), they ended up throwing the PFC on and said that the tune was really fat, hence why I was blowing a lot of black smoke on boost. They said that the car was in really good condition, and felt really good to drive. The car did a lot of back to back power runs and never missed a beat - it's good to know that I have a really solid platform.

Although the work did take a while, I am glad that there are so many positives that came out of this, and I couldn't be happier with the way the car is performing.

Next on the list will be a set of rims..

Teaser for everyone. Today is rainy so unwilling to take it outside the shed, but some sneaky pics of my new rims!

Fell in love with them the moment I saw them. 19x10.5+12 with 265/30 Potenzas. Will go for some decent tyres when these flog out, as long as it puts the power down I will be happy.

Finally did the 2.7ohm resistor airbag light thing. Took about half hour, was pretty easy.

Had a small oil leak, turns out oil was coming out the dip stick. Apparently wasn't breathing enough, so got the catch can plumbed in.

Haven''t had the chance to get proper shots done, but just a couple from a few weekends ago.

Sorry for lack of updates. I have been saving like crazy and haven't been doing much. Updates will be slow from now on - I have decided to go to uni so I have been banned from modifying this. (will still continue to bug her, hopefully she gives in and lets me throw a highmount turbo on). I have got the series 3 headlights and front lip on, and I also got the front end resprayed as there were lots of random stone chips throughout the paint.

I got a photoshoot done for my birthday, here are my favourites from the first location. I hope you all enjoy!
