Skyturbz
Hi guys, Ive been out of this scene for a while. Long story short but I got a little screwed over and couldn't afford to keep up the hobby. So I've had my empty r33 shell just relaxing with a knocking RB2530 engine just sitting in the garage. My question to you guys. Due to knocking and putting metal through the motor will I be able to reuse my block and head or is it likely done for? As in if I replace the crank, rods, pistons and cams (and other little bits and bobs), will I still be able to put them in my current block and head? Please no flame. I feel like I've forgotten a lot as it's been around 7 years. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/475487-rb2530-rebuild-knocking-advice/ Share on other sites
GTSBoy
Impossible to say. Need to take it apart. If it's only knocking because it's done a bearing, then it should be fine. If bits of bearing shell have somehow gotten out and run around the engine, it might be fine, or they might have done some damage as they went. Said damage might be fatal, or it might be repairable. If there was a lot of solid objects running around inside, then it's probably f**ked. SeanR32GtSt
The block needs to be torn down n inspected. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/475487-rb2530-rebuild-knocking-advice/#findComment-7892481 Share on other sites
Skyturbz
Will a visual inspection be enough to check for scratching and such? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/475487-rb2530-rebuild-knocking-advice/#findComment-7892507 Share on other sites
SeanR32GtSt
Yeah. Cylinder walls for scoring especially. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/475487-rb2530-rebuild-knocking-advice/#findComment-7892563 Share on other sites
