Recommended Posts

Trying to get some info on the attached picture, Noticed my line from the steering that feeds the rack is bent ( short line), looking to replace it with an fittings if possible i believe the one side with banjo is m14x1.50 not 100% sure what the rack would be. I noticed the part is discontinued any help would be appreciated.

Kinda thread jack here for a second but does anyone else get overflow from their PS reservoir

Yes common on the track - need a better cooler in the system - stock is pretty rudimentary.

Idk about previous owner but in my year of owning my r32 it’s never been on the track. But I have seen some spillage from either the reservoir cap or one of the hoses.

Obviously the cap has a seal, and if the seal isn't sealing......

Equally, the big hose on the res is on the hot side of the engine bay, so can get brittle with age and crack.  Let's the red stuff out there too.

FWIW, my R32 has never spilled any from the res.  I replaced all the hoses about 5 years ago when I did an engine transplant though, so it's not like it should leak!

You can get the fittings off "Chase Bays" who are an American company.  Pretty sure it's this one - https://www.chasebays.com/collections/an-fittings/products/14mm-power-steering-adapter-low-o-ring-fitting.  The fitting is cheap, the postage is stupid....

They've actually got some really cool stuff on there.

I just cut the end off my old one and welded on a 'weld on' AN fitting to it.  You might be able to get a pipe cheap from a wreckers?

Another option - https://www.streetweapons.net/products/s-chassis-power-steering-rack-an-conversion-fittings

    • I'll snap up some photos when I'm back home, in the office today meeting my "in the office" quota. Have 2x Teams calls scheduled in, office culture they reckon.   I've never owned a proper off the shelf sub, I've always made or modified broken ones with Jaycar plate amps and/or car subwoofer drivers. The current (and broken) subwoofer has a proper home driver in it, Dayton driver, thos one https://www.daytonaudio.com/product/118/rss265hf-4-10-reference-hf-subwoofer-4-ohm FS of 25Hz, which is low but not low enough. Yeah, I think they were brought out to the market to compete with SVS. I would love a SVS PB-3000 but they're not cheap, especially after their price hike. From reviews online, it does look like the Tonewinner D6000 would destroy and with good amount of money saved too.
    • yeah, that happens too.  I'm really enjoying 4WDing at the moment, seen a few beautiful spots and want to go explore more of this enormous country.  The 370Z got a clutch LSD in it and a track day, great fun.  Getting the back end sorted out really rejuvenated my enthusiasm for driving it hard, the viscous one is poo especially in such a short and wide chassis.  The VLSD unpredictability was more benign in a long and skinny Skyline.
    • With my pre/power I use a remote trigger cable(3.5mm jack each end). I turn tv on, it turns both on via ARC. Or, just the pre with the remote or its streaming software, turns on both. Not that difficult at all. Obviously,  you would also want to actually update/upgrade over other factors in your life(bills, family, other hobbies, etc)
    • Yeah, nightfall was very "meh". And I'm crap at pvp, so feels like everyone has cheats(it's just my lack of skill). Final shape has been pretty good. New raid and dungeon are pretty good. If you want to give it a go, probably wait until it's on sale. But, as usual, most of it feels very familiar.
    • This morning was Kingswood's Microscopic Wars. It is the album's 10 year anniversary this year and we went to see them play the whole album as a special show a couple of months back. Was pretty spectacular.
